They cant compete..Simple and straight foward..They havent really done enough to warrant that move..If 2 time Semi Finalists like Argentina can struggle to be competitive in the RC i have no reason to believe Japan will do any better

When will Japan join the Rugby Championship?

It was clear from the onset that Japan had its own domenstic tournament with money to burn so there was no way they were going to destroy that just be part of Super Rugby.Thats the first thing.

Secondly it was clear Japan cant possibly have the domestic players of the quality to compete inn Super Rugby.

It was always going to fail and the Sunwolves project speaks for itself. The team has received the wooden spoon every season and there are no signs that is going to change.

The Wrap: SANZAAR perfects the art of the Rumba when it needs to Tango

The story for Super Rugby is very simple.

The only expansion success story has been in Argentina. It failed in Australia, fails in South Africa and failed in Japan.

And going foward SANZAAR should be strictly focused on ensuring more Super Rugby is played in ARGENTINA period.

This is really a no brainer.Argentina has both the crowd interest and the talent.I dont see any success at the moment looking elsewhere. The results are there for all to see.Jaguares XV is doing well in SA by the way

No Americas nation can assemble a team or teams to compete with Argentinian franchise.Never.

They can play in the Americas with the likes of Canada but the gulf in talent is just too much no meaningful competitive rugby will be played there

Argentina's case for a second Super Rugby franchise

Its inevitable a fallout will ensue from the continued Jaguares dominance which i expect to continue in the SA Conference given the massive player exodus set to hit SA Super Rugby franchises .

Not having a home finals match at all this year hit SA rugby very hard this year and im not sure they can take it anymore

Sunwolves has been a complete failure. That project is going nowhere

Argentina's case for a second Super Rugby franchise

Argentina has enough talent to cater for a second franchise.Although it might not perfom as well as the Jaguares but surely they will be better than the bottom placed team from Australia or South Africa.

Also i observed some players actually left for Europe because they could not get game time in a Jaguares shirt. The issue will mainly come down to finances to sustain the second franchise but continuing to have the shadow of a Quasi National hovering over the JAGUARES has become a distraction that needs to be addressed as this seamingly small issue will become a credibility issue going foward

Argentina's case for a second Super Rugby franchise

Continuing to have a quasi national team in the competition is a serious threat to the integrity of the tournament.Having a Pumas team masquarading as a Super Rugby franchise has become a credibility issue.

Either Argentina gets a second franchise ir the Jaguares have to go
