It now seems we can only boo white anglo saxon males. As others have stated there are many great aboriginal players that are revered by the football publicwhom are too numerous to name here. Racism in Australia? of course there is. We all have our prejudices and most of us are still tribal. One of the reasons football exists is because of “tribalism” a sense of belonging to a certain group.
Things like AOTY did not help Goodes with the football public as many saw this as tokenism. You could have found a thousand people more deserving of AOTY than a highly paid football player of any colour.
I believe Goodes as good as he is does not get the hard ball. Say what you like about Selwood no one good honestly suggest Goodes compares in getting the hard ball to Selwood.
I think Goodes is viewed, rightly or wrongly as being a bit precious and that many believe he did not deserve AOTY. I believe that it is time we stopped singling out indigenous players from the rest. They are just Australian players and I believe should be viewed as such. This constant singling out of any minority for praise I believe adds to the perception of “You’re doing well for an aboriginal/asian/greek/italian/irishmen etc. I believe this reinforces an image of inferiority when everyone should be viewed of equal worth..

Does the Adam Goodes drama expose a racist underbelly in Australia?

Greatest Coach should not be confused with most successful coach. Some coaches have been lucky to coach through the golden era of a team.Whether they were the”greatest”is another story. I agree that great innovators of the game have more claim to the “greatest” tag. Certainly Barrassi was among them but it was Graeme “Polly” Farmer who was the true original innovator of the hand ball to bring its widespread use into the modern era. Clarkson has proved his talent in the modern era with the style of play he introduced. But the same could be said for Thompson at the cats and Paul Roos at Sydney. I think “Among the greats” is the closest any coach can aspire too.

Is Mick Malthouse the greatest ever coach?

i think the point has been made about his origins already. From Croweater land? I dont think so.
