Just like the ugly anti Manly fans hate on DCE, an absolute class act in every sense, just ask Matt Rogers about the kind of guy DCE is…. haters hate on Gutho for zero logical reasons. So many Footy fans are brainless blind hating zombies. I appreciate the whole of the NRL & the players who play in the right spirit

NRL Round 6 Talking Points: Concussion sub needs a fix, learning about 'disruption', why does everyone hate Gutho?

Why would the state Govt consider funding upgrades at Leichhardt for 5 games per year ahead of Brookvale where Manly play all their games?

Dogs over pay for mid players… then they get injured, now they want cap relief? A team should only get cap relief if a player is injured in a rep game. Bad luck

NRL News: Roosters to put entire club through cultural training after Leniu ban, Dogs' salary appeal, Panthers lack spark

Glad this is over. Now for round dos

'I am really sorry': Leniu cops HUGE ban as NRL judiciary hands down verdict for ‘monkey’ racial abuse at Mam

We will get flogged. We can’t bat. Our top 6 can score 200. Too many blokes clearly on the slide, or too cavalier.

Test Mortem: Epic comeback win but cracks remain in line-up, Shield form has to count for something, Pat should bat higher

Manly Sea Eagles’ Jersey Flegg Players’ Player for 2023, was Jamie Humphreys, you missed him on your squad list. Jamie has secured a one-year contract with the club that will see him there til at least the end of 2024.

He is a talented youngster will join who had a great last season in the lower-grades shifting between the halves and hooker roles.

Seibold has stated Jamie & Gordon are fighting for that understudy hooker possible no 14 role.

NRL Round 1 predicted teams: Manly Sea Eagles - Schuster's fitness battles continue as Seibold faces crucial season

The NRL had a rule, then made an exception to the minimum 18 year old rule for the Roosters with Suaalii.

I reckon this idea of say a $250k Max to an u/21 age player is a very good idea on many fronts… until the NRL make an exception again.

Demetriou calls for cap on salaries for young players to prevent poaching like Roosters luring Suaalii from Souths

So close to the bone this… when satire reflects the deeper truth.

Round 1 Predicted Teams - Titans: Holbrook needs fast start with new-look spine to ensure he stays coach

Go Manly. I’m all in on Tony Seibs

Smart Signings: Schuster, the Sea Eagles and just what type of Seibold are we going to get?

Cape Town Dolphins

The lingering question Dolphins new boys are refusing to be distracted by

Wow, what a strange take.
Luai was doing a a speech at a private wedding where footage got leaked. A private wedding where no speech or dance was ever to be intended for public consumption. He didn’t deliberately post his speech on social media to get a controversial public reaction. So many people want Luai’s blood on this issue when in reality, what was said at the private wedding & any dances or food eaten at this wedding is none of their business.

If he says something offensive in public or posts something on social media – punish him.

But Big Brother are not yet monitoring inside all of our own homes… it’s like some out there now want to be judge jury & executioner on all of our private comments at private family functions… North Korea must be the new benchmark.

Luai's double trouble with N-word should get at least similar punishment as Moran's social media spray

The people who are critical of Luai are baffling. He is a multi dimensional player who attacks the D-line, kicks well, chases all kicks hard, regularly puts his outside men into space and was in charge of the most lethal edge in football… yet some people call him a passenger? That kind of negative rubbish generally comes from people who have never done it. It’s no coincidence Luai is the key pass that gets the best edge in football looking so good.

There's always next year: Long-range fearless predictions for 2023 NRL season

Cummins… he just put the lid in the pot & smoked them. Dead Set Legend. End of story.

ANALYSIS: The 'dick pic' that helped scuttle Langer and fast tracked a natural born leader

Fantastic concept AMD. Understand it completely. Actually I think another measure of Club greatness would be how many Hall of Fame type players the club has created or developed. I understand many players played for multiple clubs, however I think the number of legends or international type players that a club develops through its ranks could be recognized within your system.

WHAM! Rugby league’s historical classification

If they don’t want a proper name, call them the Cape Town Dolphins and get them reaping the Super whirlwind

The Dolphins will be paddling upstream unless they settle on proper name

I personally cannot understand people who are planting themselves firmly on one side of this issue. For me it is clear both sides have handled this poorly, in terms of timing, process & response.
.
I’ve always been an advocate of 2 on field refs, albeit with only one allowed to carry a whistle. I see clear consistency flaws with the current 2 whistle system we’ve employed since 2009, but I see benefits of having two sets of eyes.
.
So essentially I do not agree with the NRL’s position on the genesis of this dispute. And for me, if any change was to happen, I’d rather the NRL did it, or pushed for it during the off season with more time to discuss & sell it.
.
But alternatively, I do understand that the NRL and not me, nor the referees run the game in this part of the world. Nor do I get a say in plotting Rugby League’s direction. I understood the attempts from referees to have their thoughts heard & put on record thru FWA. Fair call and great respect to them. They deserved that opportunity.
.
Additionally the disrespect from that James Hooper article was deliberate & way out of line.
.
However, with CoVid-19 issues, and the clear sacrifices made by the NRL (and many within the NRL administration who have been slaughtered) to get so close to an amazing May 28 competition re-commencement, with all 16 club’s secured into the future (something that appeared remote 7 weeks ago)… the referees now taking this to arbitration at this time, rightly or wrongly, fairly or otherwise, seems obtuse & insular.
.
Most fans love the game more than they love the referees Mary. It seems logical to think, if this arbitration somehow stalls the NRL restart… I really cannot see any significant percentage of fans rallying around the referees cause in this.

NRL refs are victims of dinosaur fans and gutter journalism

I watch sport to get away from this rubbish. Now various political stances or propaganda social views are infiltrating sports blogs, sport news sites and here we have this on “The Roar”. Now you’ll see debate from people parked on both sides, none of whom are experts. All of whom base their beliefs on what they’ve wanted to read and how they wanted to interpret what they were reading. And it’s not sports related. It’s political agenda related. Whether I believe in a certain political view, or not, this story doesn’t belong on the Roar, surely there’s enough dead beats flogging their knowledge on blogs specific to political discourse.

Forgive me if I’m wrong, and please let me know… because if this particular blog is the dawn of a “new political” direction for the Roar. Then thanks… I’m done with it.

Time for sport to realise climate change is its fight, too

I’m with Steve. These were galactically stupid comments from our new NRL Chair. A bloke who should have a whole of game outlook starts throwing up anchors & roadblocks. Christ, don’t do the media’s work for them, be progressive, be bullish, be positive, be better than yesterday.

The National Rugby League chairman thinks five hours on a plane is too much

Great team. I can see where the non consensus debate was… Front Row lol. Definitely the jury would be out for a long time on Matt Scott.

Revealing The Roar's NRL team of the decade for the 2010s

This is a rubbish take.

“Tim Paine is a saboteur of Australian cricket’s legacy”… TEAM FIRST FOCUS has always been Australian cricket’s legacy, so essentially Paine leadership decision has actually added further depth & pages to our nations Team First legacy. Individual records, individual legacies, individual triumphs have always ran second to the goals and concerns of the team. That’s why throughout cricket history Australia has always been the team that the other nations have wanted to defeat.

additionally, during the test rain was forecast which Ben Pobjie has bizarrely overlooked in his expert article. At one stage it was forecast as a possibility that an entire days play could be lost. Paine is the Captain of the Australian Men’s Cricket Team. The number one priority and goal of the team he leads is to win Test matches. The number one goal is certainly not to entertain personal indulgent milestones or record breaking opportunities that may compromise the team goals. This is the new era of the Test Championship where every Test result matters. Warner had plenty of time, for me this is a better, more relevant innings than the 400 from Lara as the match wasn’t drawn.

Paine went up a cog as a strong team leader in the views of many.

Tim Paine must go

Unless there’s rain, Australia 3 zip. Thanks for coming Cuzzies.

Analysing each member of New Zealand’s Test squad

Chris Close vs Ray Price was a personal one. Steve Walter’s vs Elias was also full of hate Wally Lewis had a few punch ups with Michael O’Connor especially in the Origin arena. They toured together as Rugby Union schoolboys so maybe that’s where the rivalry came from. Lewis v Geyer, they became mates not long after that game after the King approached him in a bar. Other than that one Origin where no punches were thrown at each other, this was never a rivalry.

The NRL's greatest player rivalries

I don’t mind negativity if the delivery driver… in this case Buzz, offered an alternative solution, or was constructive about it. But Buzz is neither, and he seems to relish the fact that he’s neither, often saying “that’s not my job”. He makes a good living out of a game he seems to enjoy kicking the hey zeus out of and burying any chance of a solution. Carnage sells papers, Stuart Diver in an avalanche spikes interest. Buzz is all about himself and his own interests. Buzz is about manufacturing carnage around the NRL, especially undermining goodwill around NRL administration, because that’s how he manufactures his avalanche to suit his end.

The fan boys that follow his rubbish and believe in his narrative of “keeping them honest” are suckers.
