I don’t like him, and his Conservative stance goes against my main values. That said, lately I have seen him posing tougher questions to some extremely Woke Leftists, and I actually find myself agreeing with him (occasionally). Parts of society seem to be swinging violently Left or Right lately, with no semblance of balance or nuance. I hate extremism in all it’s forms, be it Left or Right.
However, this is probably not the forum for that discussion! 😂

SevenTEENth heaven: Warner Broad's bunny again as Smith, Marnus brain fades leave Ashes in Marsh's hands

He looks like he’s lacking confidence. His shot selection in the previous UK Ashes was exceptional, however in this series, it’s anything but. Maybe he needs a little break? With Warner, Labuschagne and Smith (bar one innings) continuing to fail regularly, and to rubbish shots, it’s putting massive pressure on Khawaja and the middle order. We expect more, no one is immune to a lapse in form, and no one should be immune to being dropped temporarily as a result.

Yes, 100%.

SevenTEENth heaven: Warner Broad's bunny again as Smith, Marnus brain fades leave Ashes in Marsh's hands

He wasn’t actually all that far out of his crease. It looked plumb to the naked eye and ball-tracking confirmed. Stupid rule, that should be out every time.

I do not agree with this rule. I care where the ball is going, not where it hits. Dumb rule.

Couldn’t agree more, Sarge!

SevenTEENth heaven: Warner Broad's bunny again as Smith, Marnus brain fades leave Ashes in Marsh's hands

I think the “hitting/impact outside the line” rule is garbage in any game with proper ball tracking. That was out, plain and simple. If Warnie’s Ball of the Century had hit his pad, it would’ve been not out. For me, if the ball is clearly going on to hit the stumps, it should be out. Many may not agree, and that’s ok.

I don’t know that the tactic has to stop, Rellum, I think it just needs to be used more judicially. And definitely less to Stokes!

One can hope! That would well and truly make him undroppable.

Care to comment about that joke now? 😛

Marsh returns after four years in wilderness as Aussies make three changes, England win toss

Oops….

Marsh returns after four years in wilderness as Aussies make three changes, England win toss

Marsh excels against England, and his average has now climbed even higher!

Turns out you were very astute!

Yet they did, and it turned out rather well, don’t you think?

His average against England is quite high, and it’s higher now! 😁

This has played out rather well- very prescient!

I love this, awesome stuff! 👍

The spirit of cricket was murdered in cold blood by sunburnt thugs - and the game might never recover

Agreed. Neser in for Hazlewood. I don’t think we lose too much bowking-wise, but definitely gain in batting.

Aussies make tough call on Lyon's Ashes campaign as opening batter drops out of squad

Not just that, they also had the worst of batting and bowling conditions. I think it’s sad that these incidents will end up marring what was actually a pretty amazing effort by Australia.

COMMENT: Cummins failed the moral test and tarnished these Ashes. He had the chance to be a legend and blew it

That catch was deemed not a catch because of the rules, and we have to accept that. Rules aside, everyone knows that’s a catch, 100%. So now we’re even

No doubt they are still in it- a batting collapse by Oz on Day 4 will no doubt ensure that! That said, I think the smart money is on an Oz win, with the draw being a possibility.

UK View: Poms round on 'kamikaze' Bazball as Vaughan declares 'England like losing' after Ashes horror show

I do not agree. I think Cummins has captained very well, and we’re forgetting that Englan got the best of the bowling AND the batting conditions, and we’re still ahead. This Test will be an Australian win or a draw, but England will not win it. For the next Test, depending on the pitch, we should bring Murphy in (no brainer), Neser in for Starc, and possibly Boland for Hazlewood- he still looks underdone to me. We lose nothing (probably gain, actually) in batting with Neser, so that’s an easy one.

UK View: Poms fume over 'brainless, reckless, sheer stupidity' as brazen batters blow 'Glenn McGrath moment'

The commentators have been saying that since the Duke’s ball has been made overseas, it has produced far less swing. That view seems to be reasonably accurate.

I said many times before this Test that they should persist with Boland and bring Neser in. That said, however, I’m not sure they would’ve extracted much more from pretty average bowling conditions. Plus, neither would’ve been as threatening with the short-ball stuff Cummins (very succesfully) employed in the latter half of the innings. It’s hard to say whether Neser & Boland would’ve been any more succesful early on, though they would probably have leaked less runs- maybe. Anyway, we’re in a very strong position now, and we’ve achieved that despite having the worst batting and bowling cnditions, and having lost Lyon- a pretty amazing achievement!

Yep, they bowled dross. Their situation was not helped by conditions favouring the batsmen, but they still bowled poorly. It looks like they have rectified it admirably the next day, with Cummin’s short ball strategy paying off in a big way!
