Yeah, sure thing. Let the game ‘itself’ do the marketing.
I always thought if you wanted to promote growth/sales in a product/sport you should get people more interested and that word again, exited, in what is on offer.

NRL marketing is a myth in the code’s administrative madness

Russ, thanks for doing some thinking on my behalf but you are barking up the wrong tree.
I’ll be up early watching all three WCC games, as always.
You agree with my comments that RL’s pre-season marketing has been ordinary so I really don’t understand what you are on about.
Thanks for your comment in any case.

Agreed, TB. I didn’t say Green was the best in the tournament. Just made an observation that he looks like being a special component of Melbourne’s play this year.
He performed under the radar last season but will be much more prominent in 2016.

Green looks gold for Storm but Eels clinch first silverware of 2016

Panthers: Elijah Taylor, Te Maire Martin, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, Jeremy Latimore, Bryce Cartwright, Zach Dockar-Clay, Robert Jennings, Ben Garcia, Josh Mansour, Isaah Yeo,Corey Harawira, Reagan Campbell-Gillard, Sione Katoa, James Segeyaro, Moses Leota, Will Smith, Waqa Blake, Chris Smith.
This lineup looks pretty dangerous to me.

NRL season preview series: Introduction and the Nines

I fancy the Panthers to give it a shot. Anyone in accord?

NRL season preview series: Introduction and the Nines

Are you watching Joel?
I’m not losing interest. That second set was oh, so close and The Joker was clearly feeling the heat with two DFs.
There may well be a gap but it can be closed in the space of one or two sets.
I am not a huge Murray fan but he’s right in this.

Novak Djokovic vs Andy Murray: Djokovic the champ in straight sets

Who owned that baggy green, Hughster? Anyone we might know?
Sounds very special.

PRENTICE: Street cricket at sundown on Australia Day

Hi Steve: yep, the Boardroom seems to be the biggest hurdle facing the Eels.
We can only hope some harmony is achieved for the greater good.
Player-wise, I think they’ll be very dangerous providing they can come up with a decent half-back.
That’s a HUGE proviso as history shows.

PRENTICE: Rugby league could really use a blue and gold rainbow

He won’t be hard to spot Bob.
He’s the guy with blue and gold eyes.

PRENTICE: Rugby league could really use a blue and gold rainbow

Correct. Just testing.
Still, it would be great if it happened.

PRENTICE: Rugby league could really use a blue and gold rainbow

I think you could use some headgear Brett.
Know just where you can get it …..
Cheers, Tim.

What if Shaun Marsh does well in Hobart?

My pleasure Sam S. I got a lot of fun and enjoyment from K Irvine and of course the mighty Bears.
There is a slight chance they will come back.
I frequently back slight chances . . . .

PRENTICE: What rugby league fans should be looking for in the World Cup final

Thanks a lot concerned supporter.
Clicked on your link and loved it x 5. Truly amazing Kangaroo players who kept producing amazing stuff (and they were not not playing mugs).
Roarers – suggest you click on the link as well. Wonderful players in a very famous RL game.
Irvine v Cleary. Whom would I back?.
Extremely tough call but probably ‘Michelle’ Cleary in a dead-set photo finish.
No probs though. I thought Irvine was a slightly better footballer than Cleary. He had to be, to score so many tries for a Bears’ team that ran last almost every season.
Bears finishing second? I got used to that.
But K Irvine rarely finished with the silver.

PRENTICE: What rugby league fans should be looking for in the World Cup final

Hello Kevin: Naturally, I was a huge fan of Georgie Ambrum (who just happened to be my local garbologist at Naremburn).
I was at the SCG when he made his long-deserved Test debut for Australia against the Kiwis.
He let nobody down. George scored two great tries.

PRENTICE: What rugby league fans should be looking for in the World Cup final

You don’t mean to be rude, antoni.
Sure as hell looks to me that you are. Keep roaring champ.
And try to have a good day.

PRENTICE: What rugby league fans should be looking for in the World Cup final

Breakdown: have another pint of bitter.
And try to enjoy the RWC final.
I know I will.

Casper, I offered you an opinion. Naturally, what I’ve predicted may or may not prove accurate.
Maybe keep this column somewhere in your computer and produce it in September next year.
I have made many predictions here on this site that have proved one hundred per cent accurate but at the time, the naysayers have jumped out of the woodwork to suggest I’m off with the fairies or quaffing some high octane substance.
You mentioned rose-coloured glasses. Why begin your comment with a sledge?
I’ve had a good look at Canberra’s playing group which looks considerably stronger than last year.
Sezer had an injury this year so he is suddenly ‘injury-prone.’
He played 18 games after making his Titans top grade debut in 2012. He played 22 the following year, 13 in 2014 (torn pectoral muscle) and 18 this year. You’re a hard marker.
Lima and Clydesdale will not be considered starters in the Raiders’ senior team but they’ll be more than capable replacements if injuries occur. You need depth to finish in the upper reaches of the NRL.
You agree that Vaughan looks to be an Origin prospect and then take a pot shot at coach Stuart before branding me an optimist.
It seems clear that you cannot see that the Raiders have assembled a good roster and the fact they are training already for 2016, suggests they mean business.
I’ll cop criticism or argue my point to the best of my ability but is there even a remote chance of making your criticism constructive?

PRENTICE: Cop an early tip - Raiders will be biggest improvers of 2016

I think the Raiders could use some more positive fans.
They look in pretty good shape to me.

Pete: why do we bother?
I wrote an opinion piece, a column.
In the comments section I suggested Shane Richardson would be my choice as D Smith’s replacement. That’s an opinion, champion.
And you can call me a cowboy all you like.
It’s pretty fashionable these days.
Thanks for contributing.

Thanks but no thanks Dave – rugby league needs a rugby league man at the top

The blackest day in sport was a political spiel, a tactic to take attention away from a struggling Government.
Any administrator worth his salt would have/should have handled it with composure. Undoubtedly, Smith was fine throughout the saga.
The supposed “millions” promised by a Government for stadium upgrades are, in essence, a promise.
(How is the Federal and State Govt money promised to an upgrade of Brookvale Oval looking? Not gonna happen). Promises, promises . . .
Yes, the NRL squeezed more money out of Ch 9 but that was always going to happen. That channel is stuffed in NSW and Qld with out RL product. The rest of the broadcast deal will happen naturally down the track.

Yes I do.
But again, what has John Grant contributed? Does he do more than run good meetings and press the flesh at VIP functions? I’d really love an answer.

WB, I pretty much wrote your sentiments exactly.
The new CEO must have an appreciation and understanding of the game.

Nice work Pete. Had your tablet today?
How about writing a constructive comment for a change? I’ll cop the personal sledges until my rocking chair loses its rock.
I have offered my opinion. Who is your choice to succeed Dave Smith?
Justin Bieber?
Oh, and Pete, suggest you invest in a dictionary. Not good champ.

Thanks but no thanks Dave – rugby league needs a rugby league man at the top

Thanks John. Erudite stuff.
But where are your suggestions? Another hit and runner.
Hack? I’ve been called a lot worse but thanks for roaring champ.

Thanks but no thanks Dave – rugby league needs a rugby league man at the top

Right on the button Matth. There are lots more beans in the cup but in my opinion, the on-field game is no better off due to Dave Smith’s influence.
