The “world champions of football” are in the good ol’ USA and they’re going to play in the SuperBowl come this week in Atlanta!!!

The whole point of this ad is to poke fun at the concept of a team in an isolated league claiming to be “world champions”….. So no, it’s not disrespectful to the Brits because it isn’t intended to be taken serious!

That’ll just be worse for marketing if you have two leagues with the same name. There’s already several “Super Leagues” in other sports. No use adding another one.
What NRL needs to do to is convince the Australian government, the National Olympic Committee or whatever the relevant body is, to get Rugby Nines into the Commonwealth Games and other multi-national competitions in the region. I’m sure other countries like NZ, Papua NG and Fiji would back the bid to get it in.
This should have been a matter of foreign-policy priority years ago. AFL would have never worked abroad because most countries either don’t have the stadiums or aren’t fit and crazy enough, RL is a sport that is perfect for Asian and Latino countries. Their teams are never going to amount to anything in RU, ever, because it favors brute force and players with big builds whereas RL favors agility. Rugby League is like the middle ground between soccer and rugby union, in terms of what it demands from players.
