Skimming through the comments only shows people complaining about players from their state not being in the 11. No one chats about what bowling tactics could’ve been used during the powerplay, after all thats where the game was won. The bowlers last night failed to give the batsmen a getable target so now will the Aussies in the next match stick with the same bowling tactics or try different combinations?

Forget the whole selection BS, thats just people wanting to play favorites. In reality the game was lost in the first 4 overs. A combination of dumb, dumb bowling and predictability in bowler choice lost the match. I was thinking to myself the match was as good as lost by the end of the power play. There is most likely a ring of truth when it comes to the bowling attack feeling safe and untouchable, for now whatever the issues are smarter cricket is needed so we don’t find ourselves chasing 200 on a pitch clearly worth 20 to 30 runs les then that

Had thought after the Aussie’s first batting session we had an actual Test match… by the end of the day we had an excuse to over inflate the batsmen’s overall runs records. I guess all roads now lead to Pakistan, including all their pitches.

As of now the Aussies are down 3 wickets including the flawless Khawaja at the top of the order. Losing both openers not surprising as Warner hasn’t looked good since the beginning of the series and Khawaja wasn’t protected down at five. For now the selecters will keep Khawaja for the next series sadly for Harris’s career as I suspect the selecters are waiting for a certain young Victorian to return from injury.

The sheep forget how the selecters pushed Finch’s test career off the cliff by forcing a clearly middle order batsmen at red ball cricket to do the hardest batting job, that is to open. Khawaja won’t last and like the others he’ll join Harris and Finch at the bottom of that slowly rising pile of Aussie batsmen

With Harris’s Test career all but over now and the Aussie selecters banking on two blokes in their mid 30s to open, not to mention one thats not a proven opener anymore it seems common sense went out the window just to please some sheep and forget about building the team’s long term batting stocks.

Sad fact is there’s no reason to select Khawaja with no short, medium or long term benefit. Since moving down to Victoria Maddinson has been the most consistent middle order batsman over multiple years, so yeah thats the logical choice… but I have a sneaky feeling who’ll actually be picked

Too many comments to read through so here’s my quick remark, the best state bowler once again gets the cold shoulder. Boland will never get his earned try at the Test level, simple fact is no one with any say say are too focused on other bowlers even though boland is leagues ahead of the other two in his sheer wicket taking ability. As for Smith not even touching that rotten apple…

No surprises however if I was in Boland shoes I would be throwing my hands up in frustration after doing everything possible but still get the cold shoulder from the selecters. Same for Maddinson, only willing to give him sloppy seconds even as he shows to be one of the best middle order batsmen around. Looking forward to seeing Khawaja actually face top line bowlers, lucky bloke been shielded from the two best attacks this season

Always thought without Maxwell that middle order looked as useful as tits on a bull. I understand we need power in Wade and Marsh but CA’s favorite son sadly is a one-trick pony so perhaps a batsman like Handscomb would’ve been more useful… As for Wade not sure he’ll last long in the T20 squad, he just doesn’t seem to fit personally I guess. Besides the 2 cheats and the Captain the rest of the batsmen don’t have their spots nailed down, thankfully for them not alot of pressure from others to kick them out of the team

That current middle order has zero intimidation unlike having Finch, Warner, Smith, Stoinis, Maxwell and Marsh which makes the current lineup in India look like an 2nd 11. I may dislike Marsh however he is far above Labuschagne when it comes to white ball cricket.

Unfair expectations and peer pressure has ruined far too many promising cricket careers, cricket Australia and certain high profile players haven’t made things easy for Maxy so wasn’t surprised too much when he went on his mentel leave from the game.
As for the 3 One dayers coming up, that middle order is as intimidating as my local cricket club’s, in other words less then zero… If the top order don’t shine then things are going to get quite tricky for the Aussie bowlers.

This summer of Test cricket also was the most boring to watch as well, either zero effort or little talent from the opposition made it all too easy to inflate our batsmen and bowlers. The near zero resistence from the touring teams made it pointless 90% of the time to watch and now we’ll be getting all this backslapping how great this team is meanwhile all forget Australia is hopeless overseas… The next 12 months will be interesting indeed, perhaps tears and crushed dreams for a number of players I predict

Its pretty obvious why Siddle was picked, no matter how well he bowls he’ll still be droppped 1-2 Tests later. Besides the years of experience as well for his selection its not like we’re facing any real threat here, frankly the whole summer of Test cricket is a giant bore to watch… no contest at all

Truth is all openers at test level are struggling as lately pitches are being more friendly towards bowlers. In the end wouldn’t have mattered who’d been picked for opening for the Ashes, including Burns, it just seemed that no matter what the openers tried they still found a way to get out.
This Shield season will be more interesting then past , a number of spots are open and it may come down to who’s got the most centries.
And of course our own pitches, suspect that’ll be the true key to who’s filling out the Aussie’s batting lineup… won’t surprise me if one spot is filled with a Marsh or two… very addicting for selecters after all as we all know

We all love to pump up our favorite players but our batting lineup is truly weaker then our last 7 that tried winning the Ashes in England. The best Shield batsman will most likely be dropped for some young twit who pulled a M. Marsh right before a big Test series, we have no idea how dumb and dumber will play and the Selecters picked Head who is clearly isn’t a better red ball player then Maxwell. Don’t also get me started on Paine, that love affair so many have with him is rediculous as most keepers around Australia could do the same job but actually act like a proper batsman. When it comes to the batting alot of luck will be needed with many nicks and LBWs shouts going our way, losing clumps of wickets is going to happen just hope we’ll see that once or twice with the Aussie bowlers doing all the real damage.

Starc will play the 1st Test, after all white ball cricket is how you pick your 11 for Test matches. Odds are the 3 pacemen will the current favs of the selecters with Pattinson and Siddle cooling their heals til we either win or lose the Ashes. Shame Maxwell has been barred from Test cricket as his inclusion would’ve let us have a fourth fast bowler as Lyon won’t have any real impact this series
