'Just as important': Cheika pours cold water on NRL role, advice to RA ahead of Wallabies coaching search

Well it might be a good idea to have a word with your countrymen. Their trolling of Barnes has been so bad he has resigned.

'Just as important': Cheika pours cold water on NRL role, advice to RA ahead of Wallabies coaching search

Darlene Harrison is a good choice.

Andrew Slack is a motivational speaker and while he was a great player, really does not seem to be the right guy for a hard nosed review of this mess.

Justin Harrison is a poor choice for a 3 person committee. While he has a good background in the “player perspective” he does not have the business background generally or in professional sports to deliver on this.

For a sport/business in crisis this is a pretty worrying development and does look like the paint pots and brushes are being made ready

Sad really.

Ex-Wallabies and high-performance expert named to review World Cup shocker

Can we please please please stop the “no foreign coaches” bandwagon right now.

It is a professional sport for goodness sake, and we should have the best coach available, if we make a change..

I am not saying you are suggesting otherwise, but wanted to get this off my chest now!

The three contenders to take over the Wallabies if Eddie Jones walks

I am a Tahs supporter. We need the Force. It’s an important market and we are short of $. They have a great Junior’s program and they are starting to get some good results. IMO you would merge the Brumbies and Rebels. Brumbies are amazing but have no $ and a limited foot print. Rebels have improved. Have a big potential market. Maybe you play half the home games in Canberra and half in Melbourne. The stats on getting teams to play more games with more consistent combinations are compelling. Watch this from YouTube

I read somewhere this week that the Tahs have now got on board with centralisation. I hope so

Interesting times

'Laughing at us': Wallabies legend fears doomsday scenario for Australian rugby, urges 'bold' solution

Well. That has got me thinking. Will def attend Waratahs again on the back of that.

Exclusive: 'Seismic shift' as Waratahs to hand over keys to RA in boost to reform push - others to follow

We would definitely have found a way. We’d have smashed and grabbed third place for sure.

World Cup quarterfinal scenarios: The Ireland vs Scotland result that would send home South Africa

On balance I am not. See the YouTube link I posted at 621 pm. It’s a really interesting analysis. I would seriously look at head office though especially after the “if you don’t like what we are doing don’t watch “ comment. We need people who really respect the fans and are focused on broadening the base. Adding a proper NRC and getting into Western Sydney are also key Did you see the NRL grand final and the AFL grand final. What spectacles and how entertaining too. We have our work cut out for us.

'If you have any poo, fling it now': One final indignity as Eddie's absolute mess of a World Cup campaign nears the end

Maybe. But they have beaten England at the Home of Rugby, so that has to be a “settler”. I think we are toast and on our way home so am hoping for a bit of a fillip with Fiji nailing England again!

‘Robbed’: Fiji seal dramatic, controversial win over Georgia to hammer another nail into the Wallabies' coffin

Here is some food for thought

At the risk of getting my head kicked in, it makes a pretty interesting case indirectly for less Australian teams in SRP, proper NRC and Schoolboys (remember when State schools played Rugby) and sticking with this team and probably Eddie.

'If you have any poo, fling it now': One final indignity as Eddie's absolute mess of a World Cup campaign nears the end

Me too. It’s so much better. I no longer have Foxtel and probably would not bother if it went back to them. Their coverage was increasingly hopeless

Why News Corp and Foxtel are set to go after rugby broadcast rights despite Wallabies' World Cup flop

Thanks for this. A ray of sunshine amid the gloom

Why News Corp and Foxtel are set to go after rugby broadcast rights despite Wallabies' World Cup flop

In movies and novels, people change suddenly and permanently, which is convenient and dramatic but not much like life, where you gain distance on something, relapse, resolve, try again, and move along in stops, starts, and stutters. I really struggle with the strategy that you make wholesale changes 9 months out as opposed to incrementally. If you were going to take a axe to the team the time to do this would be post WC. So get the result everyone expected/hoped for (quarter final berth) or better, then build from there. Change is mostly slow.

Of course, in life you also do get earthquakes and you may find yourself crossing the rubicon as a result. If this is the case here then we should focus on the whole setup not just coaching staff. Sort out your strategy and head office and most will follow from that.

There are some great options potentially available inside and outside Rugby (eg Gillon McLaughlin has two weeks to go as AFL CEO and is said to be looking for a new challenge. How about Chairman and CEO of RA. That would guarantee a plan for sorting grassroots rugby!). The solutions could include Eddy and might not too. But to advocate for let’s keep backing the strategy in light of the outcome yesterday is really not sensible. You do not win sailing races by sailing into corners and you clearly do not win rugby trophies by wholesale changes to team and staff 9 months from a RWC.

The last thing this needs is a bunch of “rugby people” dictating the way forward. You need hard nosed successful sports administrators combined with talented coaching.

Suspect we will still be here in four years time

Eddie Jones should be celebrated not booed: Why the worst thing RA could do is sack the Wallabies coach

We had 6 months to get a different outcome but it’s worse than we all anticipated

How bad it is for the young guys. Let’s hope that this was not a career ending game for those who can build to international standard

If we do not sort the admin of the sport we are toast

The desire is there. Just attend a few of the latter stage Shute Shield games and you will see it in spades.

I am intrigued by those who say they are responsible but they are never held to account. In a coporate setting there would be a root and branch review with no one’s job safe

I can’t say if EJ should stay or go as I do not know his mandate. Buy HM and PW really need to explain why they should stay.

Seems to me they should have carried the older guys into this tournament and then built from there.

Will be interesting to see what happens from here.

'Bloody disappointed: Wallabies OUT of World Cup as nation to miss finals for first time, Eddie fights for survival

Why would England hope for rain. 250 is doable and if rain interrupted play again the likelihood of a drawn test increases. We then win 2-1. If I was English I would be praying for overcast humid conditions! But maybe I am missing something. Happy to be set straight

'He's fit': England play down concerns over Mark Wood's fitness

You really should watch the videos again. He is just ambling about. He does it a lot. Now he won’t do it anymore. With Starc it was a brilliant catch and could have been our but he touched the ground with the ball when he was sliding having taken it cleanly. Not out. Theme the rules Unfortunate and no complaints. Most people out here thought it was out Anyway, I thought stokes played a total blinder. As Smith said the man is a freak. I hope we get served up a better wicket so bodyline is unnecessary and we can see two great teams playing proper cricket.

Stuart Broad has just given Pat Cummins a lecture on moral standards. The audacity is gobsmacking

It’s such a pity this test will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. Stokes was amazing. The Aussies noodled their way out of a tricky situation and the whole thing was derailed by boorish behaviour on the part of the Members. The crowd don’t know better but these guys set themselves up as the custodians of the game for goodness sake. Seems the Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket were pretty spot on. The fact is Bairstow was out. Likewise a brilliant catch was disallowed- rightly because of the rules. So here is the thing. From backyard cricket to the test arena the umpires decide. End of chaps. Can we please get on with the game now.

Stuart Broad has just given Pat Cummins a lecture on moral standards. The audacity is gobsmacking

I do remember Michael Vaughan accusing him of ball tampering in the Ashes in 2010 – with a repeat performance in South Africa. I definitely remember that.

'Worst thing I’ve ever seen in cricket': Broad, McCullum whinge about Bairstow drama but McDonald returns serve

Yep. Michael Clark to Alistair Cook. By Mitchell Johnson. It was a great series

Rugby News: McLennan's 'naughty' sledge of NZR, Sio boost, Matera breaks omerta, Gatland talks England gig

Oh. You mean the illegal neck rolls on Pocock in 2018 were attributable to all tlhe All Blacks. Get a grip mate. A brain snap by Swain that will be dealt with by SANZAR. Richie M delayed twice as long. The Wallabies did not get what they deserved – they deserve consistency in application of the rules.

Lost in translation: Infuriating French trait Bernard Foley needed to know and will never forget

Really. If that is the case why was he OK with Richie M taking 81 secs to kick for touch at 71 mins Vs 39 secs for Foley. Enforce the law by all means but be consistent. End of.

Lost in translation: Infuriating French trait Bernard Foley needed to know and will never forget

Here is the thing. In the end the ref needs to be consistent. Foley 39 seconds to take a penalty kick when the wallabies are leading. Richie Mo’unga 81 secs to take a penalty kick @71 minutes when nZ leading. Neither of them warned of delay. It’s an horrendous piece of reffing End of story.

When rugby context and common sense are trumped

Thanks for that. Good article I am really hoping the boys tap into the anger and bring their big game next week.

The Wallabies tight five need to play more dynamic rugby

He was not told he was wasting time. He was told to play. The entire event took 57 seconds. Not only was it poor it was wrong.

'Clear cut call', 'They've got to be better': Ruthless All Blacks back ref as Foley felt he 'let team down'

Thanks for this. Good piece
