West Corp bounced back quickly in a different era of footy , it’s was a bit easier to leverage your financial clout 10 yrs ago than in todays version of the game. Weakened NGA allowances and a much more even level of professionalism across the league make‘ fast track ‘ rebuilds difficult . Without a clear advantage to lean on ala Sydney’s academy system it’s 5 yrs minimum to rebuild if you bottom out no matter who you are IMO and that’s if you get everything right

Round 1 losers already under the blowtorch

Haha I’ll show you mine if you show me yours
I tried but
IT’S HARD TO FORMAT A B22 IN THE COMMENTS ON THIS SITE

AFL 2022 Radar: 'Fremantle are known for utter mediocrity'

Double pineapple or GTFO

AFL 2022 Radar: 'Fremantle are known for utter mediocrity'

I’m a very critical dockers fan and wouldn’t argue with the historical mediocrity slant of your article

But

That B22 is miles off and this is the best , most balanced list we’ve ever put together

Happy to stay under the radar but we won’t be for long

AFL 2022 Radar: 'Fremantle are known for utter mediocrity'

I’m more of an AFL fan but I spent many years in QLD and loved League from the first time I saw it
Most of the previous comments are correct , IMO drafts have limited value as an equalisation mechanism but what they are superb at is promoting the game by generating interest especially for the fans of poorly performing clubs but just about any full on AFL fans will be able to tell you a quick bio of all the most exciting young players about to enter the game

Once you have a draft the next logical step is to couple it with a trade week which also generates massive interest , there are fans of AFL ( strange ones IMO ) that adore the team building/ list management side of the game more than watching footy itself

Anyway just my 2c’s

Fantasy draft: What might the NRL look like with the introduction of a rookie player draft?

A pay per view mish mash rules completion somewhere where the only law is money and the players understand it’s an old school comp where the only sanctions are financial

No kiddies to worry about

No club or code traditions to uphold

No reason for clubs to be progressive for PR reasons or sponsors to appease

The players play hard and collect the majority of the money

Could happen 1 day down the track

The UK concussion court case may destroy the NRL

I don’t mind the games limit , would add a bit of intrigue around selections but there would need to be some sort of system in place to stop teams sending a team of potatoes interstate to tackle the top team etc

What might season 2021 look like?

Best set up for a commentary team would be a couple of business-like professional commentators for the play by play , the gushing fanboy and humorous idiot combo of Bwuce and BT is diabolical then a spruiker with a good team knowledge for each of the teams involved for the box

Then a boundary rider with a bit of medical knowledge

That’s it

Six talking points from AFL Round 7

Wait a minute !!!
Mills 83 kg + 14 kg = 97kg

Josh Kennedy weighs 97 kg ???

No way

Facing their lowest ebb in some time, Swans must get creative

I alway thought the weakness of the popular ‘fwd half game’ was you were conceding a very valuable commodity to the opposition….. space , the rope-a-dope tactics the blues seemed to play was interesting as they almost invited the Doggies into their D50 , took the ball off them then exposed their KPD’s lack of mobility in a nice controlled charge forward

Good to watch but not sure it’s viable vs opposition that is more dangerous and clinical going fwd than the Dogs

Six talking points from AFL Round 6

Now there’s an article Pies fans can really get their tooth into

A brilliant new direction for the AFL
