If you want to see an even worse decision take a look at what happens in that 50 seconds left on the clock.

Tom on the short side screaming for the ball because he has a 3 on 1, and DCE grubbers to no one on the open.

The look Tom gave DCE really summed up the night.

Pretty loose definition on “Rookie”. Perhaps “Young Player” or “Under 23” or something such would have been better? I was hoping to hear about players that I didn’t have much info on… plenty enough has been written about Saab, Walsh and Walker. Jason Saab has played 33 games over 3 seasons.

It’s defined for the purposes of the Dally M as:

“Players are eligible for the Rookie of the Year in their debut season and the subsequent two NRL seasons. Once a player plays five (5) NRL Premiership matches (or English Super League matches), he becomes ineligible for the Rookie of the Year in any subsequent seasons.”

Every NRL club’s top rookie for 2021

In fact he should have been sin binned for a professional foul.

Deliberately and cynically breaking the rules to his team’s advantage. Twice.

It was a premeditated orchestration.

LAST TIME THEY MET: Cameron Smith's time-wasting tactics questioned by commentators

If you accept that he’s entitled to play at the ball, and he does, it doesn’t matter who is impeded.

Hey NRL, where did all the talent go?

Don’t forget that Tommy T is 23, Teddy is 27, and has come a long way in the last 4 years.

Five reasons why Tedesco will eclipse Slater and Lockyer

The only people that refer to Rugba League as “The Greatest Game of All” are Ray Warren and the NRL marketing fan.

I say this as a fan, not a critic.

Jeff Kennett says NRL is boring. Does he have a point?

So I guess it’s “go with what we’ve got” then.

The Broncos need experience, and Blake Green could be the answer

Whilst there might not be much pinching of talent going on, could you imagine if all (or at least most) of that talent was available to the Wallabies?

Players like Damien Cook, Daley Cherry-Evans, David Fifita, Payne Haas, Josh Papali… Imagine they came through the rugby ranks.

Six talking points from Wallabies versus England

A small upside is that both Sironen and Parker are due back next week – a centre and second rower for a centre and second rower.

Although players having to switch sides on which they play might cause havoc.

Eight talking points from NRL Round 23

As a Manly fan I’m wondering whether it’s better that we continue on current form and get in to 4th, only to lose twice in the finals, or drop a couple of games now and pick it back up in September with an easier first up game against 8th than coming up against Melbourne for the third time in 8 weeks.

Eight talking points from NRL Round 20

Garrick had a couple of shocking games at the start of the season defensively, but he’s been pretty solid since.
Manly I think are short 1 bench forward. Boyle is passable at best, and Waddell, after showing some promise early, has lately been emulating his relegated team mate Gosiewski coming up with dumb penalties and errors, however displaying good energy, but that’s not enough.

Is it time to recognise the Sea Eagles as a genuine contender?

Great comment.

Are you sure though that a betting agency isn’t doing it out of the goodness of their hearts? Because that’s the way they usually operate.

Eight talking points from NRL Round 19

What’s even worse is that it went up to the bunker a try. The commentators noted that you could see no separation between the ball and the player.

Bennett, Hasler left fuming at NRL refereeing

Suli’s first try should have been called back. Cust being denied was equally unbelievable – so they cancel each other out.

The decision that killed Manly was Garrick’s alleged knock on at the death. Should have been a penalty for offside, Manly win 22-21.

We really need to get over the “best (insert thing here) ever” after every single event.
The first game was better (and I’m a NSW fan).

Five talking points from State of Origin Game 3

“Latrell Smells: Turbo bags his double hat trick”.

Tomorrow's news today: Four potential Origin post-match headlines

I don’t think that anyone has suggested that, not least of whom would be the writer of the article.

Is it time for cricket to embrace batting substitutions?

Freddy should unleash some of his fabled out of the box ideas and label the Maroons “Undercats”. That will get them thinking.

You're welcome, NSW

To be fair to Wighton though the net result of his penalty try brain fart was the same… He lets him go, and he scores.

He’s just lucky that it was a penalty try I think as otherwise he would have gone to the bin.

Brad Fittler’s response to the doubters and critics: What, me worry?

For mine the only mistake he’s made was Cody Walker being selected for game 1. If Keary hadn’t suffered that head knock, game 1 may have been different but the smart move then would have been to select Maloney. Nobody could have predicted Latrell imploding (although he does it from time to time, his form immediately prior was imperious).

Brad Fittler’s response to the doubters and critics: What, me worry?

Wasn’t Josh Morris talked out of representative retirement for the game to fill a hole (as opposed to the series)? That could explain it. But it wouldn’t explain why he wasn’t asked to fill that same hole in game 2

Was that a collective sigh of relief we heard from Kevvie and Will after Latrell's omission?

“There are only two changes to the side, with Jai Arrow the only forced omission due to injury. ”
Joe O was also ruled out due to the gash in his knee he sustained in Origin 1.

2019 State of Origin: Game 2 preview

“This would allow Wighton to stay on the bench as cover for our back line – you’d better hope for no injuries, Freddy”
Turbo or Wighton between them can cover any backline position and Murray or Graham can cover the centres.

Freddy missed a trick, but not the one you think

Interesting. I was only just on Friday trying to work it out for AFB – I couldn’t find a date that he played for the senior Kiwis (only the juniors) however several profile sites list him as a “Kiwi International”. I think that he’s the best prop in the game at the moment, and possibly the only Klemmer replacement that would not see you with a net loss from the substitution (possibly even a net gain).

Hey Freddy, NSW only lost Game 1 by four points. Wholesale team changes weren't needed
