I think in the past we have had more than one issue with this. Our penalty kickers haven’t been kicking at Great Percentages, which might be a reason for going for touch. On the rare occasions we managed to kick the penalty, we seemed to Knock-On, give away a penalty or gain 10m from our own Restart, often conceding 7pts as a result (Especially v the AB’s) ..Then we are on the Merry-Go-Round..I think now Aussie rugby has the Players and Skills required to fix this at both ends..Higher Percentage Kickers and Better Kickoff Setups..Just my two cents

Take the three: Rebels show how Wallabies can win the Bledisloe

$30÷3=$10..Luckily no Cents Required 😛

Diva now you Finding 3 Mates might be an Issue

The Author may want to ask Fox, why they increased Fees to Pubs as well, while decreasing Content. Cost to watch the rugby on Stan, split 3 ways between mates is $10 a month..Money Well Spent

Stewart is very Unlucky, he has been good this year in covering up others mistakes. He might have to wait until O’Connor moves on to get a run

Reds' Vunivalu to start against Brumbies

The fitness of the players has increased, yet their ability to get into position to actually set a scrum has decreased immensely.. Such a joy to watch old games when forwards arrived and formed almost immediately. I don’t have stats but from the eye test, I would bet that in the past there were way more scrums per game, taking much less Playing Time

Make scrums restarts again

Great article Spew..One of the biggest problems I see in modern Scrums is the Height. In the past they seemed to start low, but be driving up at Impact, seems now they are just getting lower. Refs need to address this in the sheds before the game (Which they seem to do, as they often say “We talked about the Height”) . Whenever they pack above the Waist, the repack seems to Vanish, get that right and things will improve. This should be the easiest thing to start with

Make scrums restarts again

Poco Loco in my mind he would have his Tail East West, with a leg over the tackled player. So some of those Weapons may create “Friendly Fire” 😂

Cleanouts for dummies: How to avoid the dreaded red

Highlander and Poco Loco By past the ball I mean one foot over the tackled player, so they have created some form of Ruck Dominance. The way they Bridge now and the height they are at, 90% of the time they are not even close to holding their own body weight. Would like to see some gym sessions with players in that Bridging Position, to see if it is even possible with 100kgs plus on their upper Shoulders. Just want to make it clear that I am not saying that the Clean out isn’t to blame at all.

Cleanouts for dummies: How to avoid the dreaded red

Great article Highlander. I personally feel that the Jackler should have to step past the ball (Win the Ruck) before he can use hands, or at least be Straddled over the tackled player. This would stop the head being so low and clean outs would be hitting the side of a Jackler..All players need to be on their feet, not sure when it became Acceptable to be off their feet, just happens so regularly. They changed the Rucking Laws to make it safer..Not sure it has at all

Cleanouts for dummies: How to avoid the dreaded red

Soapit Should have to win the ruck to get the ball. Send more defenders to get it..Might even see more Attack

Six talking points from Super Rugby AU and Aotearoa

Spew_81 Changing that rule has opened up a lot of these issues now. You actually had to get past the ball to win it, needing more defenders to achieve this, leaving more space for attacking teams if you failed. Now three or four attackers are required to win it against one defender, who isn’t required to go past the ball, leaving extra defence everywhere..Not really encouraging attacking rugby. Get the Jackler to at least have to have one foot past the ball, before hands can touch it..Simple and safer for all

PeterK wouldn’t it be safer for all if the Pilferer actually had to step past the ball (One foot over the ball) He would be in a higher position and most likely facing the sideline, allowing the correct clean out ..This Bridging has to stop, 90% are never legal

BF agree on the red card’s for Foul Play (Old Skool) , but would also have in there a “Consequence” . If the player that was Fouled cannot continue, then you play with 14 regardless

Why Jim McKay is the best attack coach in Australian rugby

The Ferret..I had similar issues, had Rugbypass last few years to watch it here in Thailand. A VPN also allowed me to watch a mates Fox feed, but now are going thirds with a couple of mates back in Aus for Stan. Only costing $10 Aus a month each..NordVPN does the Job..Was checking the Reds merchandise page to see the New Stuff..All 2020 stuff still, think they are a bit Behind

SANZAAR are the Blockbuster Video of the sporting world

Used to have Rugbypass here in Thailand, but went thirds with mates back in Aus to get Stan, Watched both games with a VPN with no real issues. Was told by a good mate who runs a Leagues Club that Fox increased their Prices to Clubs and Pubs, while reducing their Content..Pubs and Clubs are not Happy

MJ Agree on the Helmet statement. The NFL has huge issues with guys using them as Weapons, putting Themselves and others in Danger ..Offence and Defence..30 years or so ago I wore the headgear, but for some silly reason only during games..Copped more head knocks at Training from Friendlies . Will be interesting if the Union Lawyer’s dig into the Binge Drinking Culture, to try to shift some of the blame

It’s time for all rugby players – young and old – to wear head protection

Tooly It will be interesting if the Unions look into ex players Excess Drinking as contributing to their Health Issues

Rugby warned it may face dementia epidemic

NB they could bring back Mauls to stop defenders setting League Lines. Only able to play the ball on the ground after you have Stepped Over, having Actually won The Ruck(Takes out Bridging and Refs having to decide) which will also make it safer for The Defender and Clean-Out, keeping Everyone on their feet..Kinda like the Laws..And get them Onside..Looking at you Linesman

Why defence is trending ahead of attack in modern rugby

Jacko That’s my Problem with England..They went 5 years without playing the AB’s ..How is this even possible when “No Longer Traveling By Ship”? Each Autumn test year they seem to “Dodge Extremely Well”

Why defence is trending ahead of attack in modern rugby

I’m sure when rucking was banned, this isn’t what they had hoped for at the breakdown. I struggle to understand how you are allowed to put hands on the ball, before you have dominated that space. If you have stepped half over the ball and on your feet, you should have rights to it, would mean your height is up and most likely side-on. Making it safer for the Defender the Clean-Out and the Ref to Aducate. Now let’s look at “Behind The Last Feet” is supposed to be the Law..Never Enforced? Why? If it isn’t going to be aducated (What are the Linesman watching?) People have suggested a 1m law(That might be aducated as Behind the Last Feet) . Watching your replays on how badly we Wallabies were dominated in the tackle (Yet Again) Makes me wonder why so many are Running One or Two Out..Miss the days of a Forward Pack, Not Forward Pods..It might sound Counter Intuitive, but I believe Mauls moving Forward, would drag in Defenders, allowing more space..Rant Over..Thanks for your work throughout the year. Merry Christmas to You and Yours NB

Why defence is trending ahead of attack in modern rugby

Geoff I believe we can increase the safety for all. You only have Rights to the Ball if you have Stepped Over the Tackled Player. Then everyone should be on their feet, no Bridging Issues and a hell of a lot easier for the Refs

The Wrap: Wallabies fans, stop me if you’ve heard this one before

Olly In my view the defender should gave to be passed the ball before they have rights to it. Takes out if off their feet or not, would be a lot safer for all concerned and easier for the Ref. Get past the ball or you have No Rights To It

Phil Kearns savages Puma's 'soccer carry-on' which saw Hooper cop yellow card

Thanks Harry..For me you probably could have stopped after the “Old Fashioned Handshake”.That’s Good Enough for Me

Did Scott Barrett just win Ian Foster one more year?

Part of the problem is the Tackler had No Intentions of Rolling Away, it doesn’t make the hit ok..Bring back Rucking, it is Much Safer, as Heads were rarely Targeted

Should this All Blacks prop have been red-carded for a last minute cheap shot?
