AFL 2022 Radar: 'Even the downside has upside for North Melbourne'

Disappointing update involving Fijian Drua, via Force statement…

The Western Force’s pre-season trial match against the Fijian Drua scheduled for this Sunday has been cancelled.

The match, which was set to be played in Ballina, New South Wales, will no longer go ahead due to the updated border restrictions for Western Australia.

Force chief executive officer Tony Lewis said the decision has been made to protect the wellbeing of the players, coaches and staff.

“We are very disappointed to not be playing Fijian Drua this weekend,” Lewis said.

“The recent announcement regarding the movement in and out of Western Australia is something we have no control over and we will not be putting our players and their families in a position of uncertainty around returning home.

“We are continuing to work closely with the government to ensure we deliver seven home games this season and gain further clarity on the situation.

Hey Colvin, they will be glad to hear they are missed. I spoke to Brett yesterday and he was heading away from the nation’s capital at speed, eager to feel the cool caress of sand between his toes. Geoff, meanwhile, has been sharpening his pencil ready to fight against injustice when it emerges once again. Both will be back on The Roar in a couple of weeks time to give this season the kick off it deserves. Meanwhile, Harry is beavering away on Six Nations content and Nick is still rumbling along and Mugs is on RA’s case . We’re getting excited about the season ahead and look forward to sharing it with you guys.

DAY 3 REPORT: Golden boy Green shines as Australia crush England to complete Ashes thumping

PC on being a bowling skipper: “It was my biggest worry I am in team as a bowler and make sure that’s protected. With each game, I felt better at managing that. In might be difficult in heat or longer innings but I feel it’s something I’m going to get better at.

“There more scrutiny on a captain but as for the role on the field it’s manageable. You just have to be across a little more. The role is big and important but perhaps not as all-encompassing as I thought it might be when I first took it on.”

As a bowler he’s a genuine fourth quick, bounce control and incredible skills. You forget how young he is. He’s the complete package.”

PC says at tea “we had a really good chat. Yu can get carried away under the lights and caught bowling really full. We felt back of the length and dry up the runs. We went with a clear plan to hold a good length and as soon as we did that I felt an extra 200 runs was a long way away. We had really clear plans in that session.”
