Is the CEO serious? Except for a few games in his first season, they were a rabble. Awful to watch. I feel for the players, because most of them are pretty good; they’ve just been coached by someone without the required experience.

Tahs confirm Darren Coleman departure, search already underway for new coach

The cheese says some dumb stuff, but this time he’s 100% smart.

NRL News: Blues won't rush Moses in as ex-Storm stars butt heads over Hynes, the fuel that's fired up NAS

It’s so true….he just hasn’t got his head around the game at all in all these years. He’s like Wendell size but has no presence at all.

How Tate plans to lift Suli out of slump as Reds enter Super Rugby 'graveyard'

It could be just me, but I don’t see any upside from Donaldson outside of goal kicking…and even that faltered under pressure in his few test appearances.

Five burning questions: How many Tahs and Force players will end up in gold, and is this farewell Melbourne?

The failed Western Reds from a state with no rugby league players shouldn’t come together with a couple of famous rugby league clubs who are already feeder clubs to the NRL.

Perth don't want shotgun marriage with Bears or Jets as NRL ramps up rapid expansion plans

The game is better without Kent or Gould. One gone, one to go. Both boringly outspoken and in Kent’s case, full of misinformation.

NRL News: Ivan clearly impressed with 'marquee' Fifita, 'I've done nothing wrong - Gus calls in lawyer over fine

Tahs need a experienced coach and quick before all the talent go OS.

'The real deal': Love 'em or hate 'em, the Reds are exactly what Australian rugby needs

Let’s look at his CV…..club coach with no time as an assistant at any decent level. And please don’t mention the Mickey Mouse US rugby comp. I’m sure he’s a good coach, but probably just needs more time under someone who has been there and done that.

Waratahs set to lose two up-and-comers ahead of Suaalii's arrival as NSW Rugby announce $4.8m loss

Supposedly Wayne Bennet likes what he saw in Tim Horan.

Is Carter Gordon really an NRL prospect... and which Australian rugby legends could have made the switch too?

International Rugby League is boring. The teams don’t spend enough time together and it’s not fluid and fast like the NRL. The NRL is a great comp played in Australia and one NZ city, but it will never take the whole nation with it because it is just that, a three or four city footy comp (I know it’s in Nth England and France, but c’mon…). Maybe if they allowed another team in Origin, but until then big fish, small pond.

‘Auckland is a rugby league town’: How the Warriors have taken over - and how Super Rugby let it happen

Salary or no salary, Herbert is trying to absolve himself and others from the terrible decisions he and Waugh and Hamish and the rest of the board made. A lot of these guys get their post-playing ‘corporate/business’ jobs not because they did well at uni or have a track record of business excellence, but because they were Wallabies and business types like rubbing shoulders with ex-Wallabies. Get some people on the board who might have only played Subbies, but actually know how to run a sports business.

'Easy to throw stones': RA chairman hits back at mudslingers' 'hypocrisy' after calls for AGM board cleanout

Plenty of ball in Japanese rugby, just not as physical as nth and sth hemisphere comps.

NRL News: Maguire happy with Papi's claims for Origin berth, Souths set to name new defence coach

Went to the Brothers v Randwick game. Geez, there’s a lot of hyperbole being written and said about his impact on that game. He played 10 and crabbed…..a lot. And Randwick lost.

Rugby News: Beale 'laser focused' on Wallabies return, coach fury at ban for 'malicious' headbutt

He needed an angle, and the mining bros was it. I’m all for saving these clubs, but they’ve got to start winning. Super Rugby partly finds itself in this predicament because the Force and Rebels have been objectively hopeless for a long time. Who wants to watch perpetually hopeless teams? All the parochial whiners can continue to whine, but stats are stats. RA hasn’t helped with it’s bumbling approach to everything, but boring, losing footy is doesn’t attract new eyeballs.

What the Rebels players should be demanding to know, as Twiggy's ex-rival throws a familiar hail Mary

Totally disagree. May had bad technique, that’s why he smashed Walsh in the head. No matter what the reason – and I know mistakes happen – hit the head and you get penalised/sent off. It’s the only way technique will improve and footballers won’t become mentally unrecognisable as they get older. It’s easy for the armchair commentators to bemoan the change, but they’re not get smacked in the head.

It's a contact sport, so we shouldn't be penalising tackles and suspending players just because someone gets hurt

Exactly! Getting pretty tired of the articles that bizarrely infer that Eddie has anything to do with some of the positive play we’ve seen so far in 2024. He, Hamish and the board pretty much blew-up Australian rugby through ego and delusion. Anyone who has watched any of that Wallabies RWC doco can see how much of a rabble it was. Subbies training back in the day seemed less clueless.

Five things we learned: Why Schmidt is in a better place than Rennie was, how Kiss has transformed Reds

The Southern Brumbies or The Melbourne Brumbies. The Brumbies have equity in their name from past deeds. But that’s it. They have no trophies or crowds of late. A Canberra team isn’t going to grow the game, and from what I’ve read, Melbourne has a burgeoning club scene at both junior and senior levels. It’s also going to become Australia’s largest city in the not too distant future. RA blindly stuffed-up going into Western Sydney all those years ago, please don’t miss the bigger picture again. I wish The Storm would buy them.

Why things could be about to get even uglier for Rugby Australia in fallout over Rebels debacle

Yeah, installing Eddie to oversee a style of losing rugby the world has never seen, thus making any hope of private equity or a better broadcast deal laughable, was just a little mistake.

'Our talent is spread too thin': Ex-Wallabies captain urges Rugby Australia to cut Super teams

Good luck being more popular than The Crusaders and Highlanders.

NRL News: Dragon banned for DUI charge, Foran's surprise call on playing future, PVL now eyeing off NZ city for expansion

Some nice, lateral thinking. Rugby should have been in western sydney eons ago, before WA or Melbourne. Twiggy could buy the NRL about 15 times over, so not sure the west need as much help as the eastern states. Not sure about the name changes too. Maybe similar strips, but the name changes would wipe out over a 100 years of history. But nice article.

Fantasy footy: How a Rugby Australia and NRL partnership could actually work

Yeah Bluesfan, imagine keeping a CEO who was a proven sports administrator and had played both super rugby and league.
Imagine keeping a coach who, yes, didn’t have a great win/loss, but had done well with a bunch of missing players and was clearly on an upward trajectory (despite what all the Eddie-tragics sprouted here).
Imagine having a board full of proven business leaders whose expertise had some connection to professional sport or broadcasting.
RA doesn’t seem to think any of that is that important.

The Wrap: Code Orange as looming Rebels decision places rugby pathways at risk

All very true. I know people will dislike this next thought, but it seems there has to be some sort of Brumbies/Rebels amalgamation. The Brumbies, for all their success, get about 15 people to every home game and you can’t really see the commercial side of the game growing any larger in Canberra. Melbourne, from what I’ve read, has a burgeoning grassroots scene and it’s to become Australia’s largest city in the not too distant future. Something has to give if the professional game is going to survive at any decent level moving forward. Is there a Twiggy somewhere in Melbourne?

'It's pretty real': Rebels coach reveals trauma as Waugh makes surprising 'no correlation' claim after job losses

Two mates having a wrestle that hurt absolutely no one. There are a lot of Karens on this thread who obviously had/have very vanilla lives.

Broncos brawlers get their first slice of Vegas luck after breach notices served but bans unlikely

HMP, despite his youth, looked pretty good with ball-in-hand last week.
JOC a really good player, but not a great 10.
Wasn’t any good against the Lions all those years ago, not that good now.
Great bench gutythough.
