I’m on a 225 lbs and up 7s team in the states called the BRAMAS – Beer Rugby And Massive A** Sevens. Jersey number is your weight. We maul in two pods. We steal your girlfriend. And your beer.

Australian Rugby announces strategic plan: Grow the grassroots!

A lot of rough edges get glossed over in recognition of talent, for better or worse. This guy is legitimately good yet still unwanted. Says a lot.

Tahs should make an immediate cash offer to Barritt plus lodging near the shore.

Five talking points from the Wallabies' win over Fiji

Subtle. 8/10

How the Wallabies can win the Rugby World Cup

I have only watched S-15 on crap internet feeds. TN is hugely fat. Someone should steer him toward a salad.

USA Eagles vs Wallabies highlights: Rugby live scores

As I said above, college football starts in earnest today. Tough date to attract new sports fans who have been waiting through dull baseball season for today.

USA Eagles vs Wallabies highlights: Rugby live scores

It’s a tough day for the game. College football starts today in the states and it’s hard to draw away those fans. There are multiple stadiums full of 90k+ across the country…just watching gridiron instead

This is an under-appreciated point. I will of course be supporting my national team, but most U.S. representative sides are naturalized Americans down to the regional level.

USA Eagles on a wing and a prayer

in all seriousness thanks for this contribution. I had no idea. I assume that refers back to the British monarchy so wouldn’t you have to lobby her son or whoever that is the comes through NZ from time to time to play rugby and survey many things?

All Black McCaw's retirement fear

Top notch info. Thanks. As a side note and mostly irrelevant, Argies comprise the entire forward pack of the Miami RFC in the states. We had to play them yearly in the national round of 32 and they were brutal. I think a nation with its own unique flavor of rugby culture is a vital addition to Super Rugby, which is must watch for worldwide rugby fans like myself in no small part to the clash of the SANZAR styles, rather than the Premiership which is great, though less contrasting in style-by-team

The Rugby Championship 2015: The Big Argentinean Questions

Just got my feed up. Any laser sightings in the first half?

Serious technical inquiry. First, I was not coached by Knucks, but instead by an ill-tempered Kiwi. If I’m understanding correctly, in addition to the “pillar” and “post” defenders, the key to the rush defense around the ruck is pressuring the inside shoulder of the 10 channel/first receiver with the third or fourth defender (In our A-B-C,1-2-3 setup, it was the “C”, preferably a back row). Pillar and Post are instructed not to rush explicitly in order to secure the tackle zone. Isn’t the 9 darting laterally trying to get in the space created in the 10 channel by the rush, or is it really about the pillar/post ruck defense?

Don’t forget Super Bowl winning member of the New Orleans Saints, Darren Sharper, who apparently raped scores of women with a premeditated routine of drugging drinks with Ambien. He was just sentenced to 9 years in jail or so, as he is allowed to serve his sentences concurrently with credit for time served. It’s incredibly lenient for a serial rapist, but it’s better than the justice most victims see done.

+1 rep tie

I already like what I see from the Cheika Wallabies

I’ve been side-eyeing Hooper for a while, as he certainly doesn’t look like a 7. BUT, in this comp, he’s tied for 1st in tries, 3rd in defenders beaten, 9th in Carries, 8th in Meters, 8th in points, 7th in Tackles. Captain Tackles obviously leads the comp in Tackles by a wide margin, and shares the ties for 1st in tries and 8th in points. If you like breakdown stuff more, McCaw has a case, but don’t pretend that selecting Hooper is unfounded.

Why does everyone hate JOC so much? Yes he’s difficult and entitled. Most precocious talents are. Last time the Wallabies were truly good, weren’t JOC, Quade, and Beale all on the team? Maybe it’s time to embrace your talents and better your man management instead of promoting replacement level players.

O'Connor to honour contract: Reds

You guys get Days of Our Lives in Oz? I’m truly sorry to any formerly young lads who were forced to watch along with Mom, as I was, while stuck at home with one tv back in the day.

Any chance your name is actually Sid Bream or are you an Atlanta Braves fan?

Sounds more exciting than a Samoan double team, which Manti Te’o taught us is really two shirtless dudes playing acoustic guitar together over Skype.

Scott, certain heavier built tall players cannot “lower the boom” due to proportions that result in a higher center of gravity than in players with more weight through the hips and thighs. A forward body lean destabilizes balance severely and furthermore it’s nominally absurd for the tallest person to challenge someone to a crouching contest. Handily offsetting baby giraffe-esque agility is the concurrent height and long limbs that allow him to influence incoming tacklers sooner, to offload from half-breaks, and just happen to put his shoulder-to-elbow region at the nose-to-neck of most humans that may consider anything but a textbook tackle. For some reason, I think his ribs can probably stand up to a little of the rough stuff, they look to be comparable to triceratops ribs. If he’s obviously going into a risky contact in tight, sure he should aim down and protect the pill. And because of the horrible prejudice against locks, the privilege to execute anything more stylish than a switch pass in game or training will be unjustly revoked should it fail even once, and if he addresses the pill with his likely mighty boot, then he may well be let go from the team. In summary, I disagree with you.

Do the Wallabies pose a serious threat to the All Blacks?
