Blokes got to get that capital for his property development goals and family. Can’t blame him for opting for the dollars but he will be viewed poorly compared to his peers who left at the right time (Parker, Thaiday).
I am disgusted and ashamed to be a Broncos fan
I’ve been on the dump Boyd and bench Milford train for two years. Both are seemingly protected species for god knows what. Is Morris and White so fickle that they won’t cop the criticism for such poor extensions and piss poor recruitment decisions.
The sooner Paul White buggers off into code management the better. The club makes money and the Board got complacent. Wait till those membership numbers drop off and a 2nd Brisbane team enters the market. The Courier Mail doesn’t sell as many subscriptions for the League coverage as it did, maybe the insipid front office can take notice of Football Operations again. This club really irked me when they sought fan sponsorship for their training facilities. This club makes enough money already and from pokies also to fund 3-4 NRL teams and overpay their executive team.

Per Scott Pryde, they are still 2-3 years off and correlates with the Seibold contract length. None of those players are options for this side. As much as I hated the metres the Bennett side would concede, their goal line defence as still phenomenal besides the weak Milf, Glenn and Boyd side.
The overlooked issue with Brisbane has been their club management and board making risky decisions with a questionable scouting and operations department. Bennett brought all his own choices to the club for a bunch of his support staff. The fact that management were so gung-ho with Darius without much push back was a huge concern to fans. On scouting what the club has had after the legendary Cyril Connell Jr. retired has never impressed me besides the Haas recruitment. I know they had changed Football Operations heads, but I can see better results on the horizon when Paul White leaves. Paul’s work for the NRLW has been excellent and he would be a better code administrator than at the club.
A rant from a Brisbane Broncos fan
Good article Adam. It makes more sense over a Redcliffe Peninsula side as the other strong bid. Western Corridor also has that good battler vs pedigree club story to it and would rustle the Broncs. As much as Redcliffe and the surrounds has this, you also have such a huge diverse population in Ipswich, Logan and surrounds. The GC vs Brisbane rivalry doesn’t really have this and the Cowboys vs Broncos was built off the Cows slowing establishing themselves as a contender and finally that unforgettable GF.
Brisbane’s Western Corridor cannot be ignored in NRL expansion
I don’t see this cutting the Broncos support. SE-QLD fans adopted southern clubs prior to the Broncs in 88 (my older brother is still a Bulldogs fan) and new fans will flock to the Western Corridor club if they had a couple of good marquee signings. Prior to shutdown you did have a lot of Brisbane born and based supporters of opposition clubs that love seeing the Broncs flogged.
