Yeah I know still a lot of sour grapes when it comes to salary caps especially for those teams who, have in the past went over their Salary Caps and didn’t win, so maybe there is a little truth that talent and teamwork sometimes overcome the players having pillow fights with their ill gotten gains. I am pretty sure in the NBA where the Salary Cap last year was $136,021,000 per team!! Supporters are still wondering why did my team go so poorly? Obviously we didn’t pay them enough. Everyone assumes that each individual player sits down and discloses their pay then they add them up on a whiteboard and work out if they should be playing together.

Legitimate titles or not, who makes the Melbourne Storm’s greatest ever team of grand final winners?

Yes I think if you look through the season, injuries in the Storm side regularly higher than those of the final 2, sure Penrith had a period without Cleary and Luai at separate times but put 3 or 4 out of the the line up say Edwards and Yeo you have a very vulnerable side even to the weaker clubs having a good day.
Storm have some cracking players which will rise to the occasion this upcoming Season, if we can keep injuries to a minimum we are a big chance. I think Tepi injury free can be as good as any forward in the game.

Smart Signings: The Storm have invested everything in the spine - but are the days of 'next man up' over?

Unfortunately I was really a fan of Sims coming down to help out, but for me I think Katoa and Moeroa are probably our real fix, they are both very hard men to tackle, we just need a couple of games with them uninjured. Having said that there are a couple of young guys in Host Plus who will be pretty devastating over coming years. But yep Munny needs to pick up the slack for sure. And we know he is more than capable.

Melbourne need much more impact from Munster or they'll be mashed in the finals

Obviously the 2 big boyz who had already committed to the tackle and bringing him to ground needed him to be propped up by a 3rd man in to complete the tackle 🙂 Laui clearly needs to avoid coming in from the side if he is scared to get in front of them. That’s sarcasm obviously, If he really wanted to help he would have assisted in dragging him to the ground. We can agree to disagree, Laui is a grub anyway his record states that, one day he will be in direct fire and jump as he may he will be battleship down.

Lucky Luai yet another example of NRL’s wobbly wheels of justice veering off track in search for consistency

So what you guys are saying is, if a smaller guy launches into someone’s head it is acceptable because the impact is so minor no one could sustain an injury, so larger/taller blokes who go high because of a distinct height difference should also be treated the same?

Hi Albo, I take it you probably have not played too much high contact sport against larger opposition? I might suggest that leaving the ground is an exceptionally strange way to brace oneself, you would suggest then if a concrete slab is falling on your head JUMP it will lessen the impact?? He launched himself!! Sure being a weed he didn’t have the desired effect but that didn’t stop him trying, THERE WAS INTENT and that should be taken into account given many players are suspended from lazy shots or tackles that just go wrong.

Yeah a little like how Flanagan must of known Cronulla rorted the system to win a Premiership, over the salary cap the year prior and year after but not the year they won.
But he didn’t get done for that and we know he’s record when it comes to cheating aka. supplement scandal of 2014.

NRL News: Dragons board to pull trigger on Griffin's tenure then address fans, Bellamy makes call on Storm future

I think you’re right Dan, the forward pack has historically been made up of rags to riches type players, with an exceptional backline. What I see now is we have an exceptional backline and have for the first time in some years got a big, robust forward pack made up of specific types, big, strong, fast and vast majority come through the system. I only can see this as big positives. You only have to give the backs another 2 seconds and they are on, something Jesse and co. just didn’t seem to be able to do anymore.
Big YEAR coming up.

Storm 2023 Outlook: Forecast clouded on title chances as depth gauge plummets in Melbourne

Your right, Kasiano was someone who went OK but never hit his straps, wasn’t he released for better wages in Super League?
Although he scored 1 try in 14 appearances which seemed his average at Dogs, scoring more with Catlan 6 from 48 games. So looks like he has found a better home.

Smart Signings: Storm old guard bow out but new blood underwhelms - and will it be Bellamy's last ride?

Agreed it is a Storm Classic 2023, they are bound to produce some of the finest moments in NRL this year and I think even those who have been toiling away will take every opportunity to show their abilities. Can’t see them not finishing top 4.

Smart Signings: Storm old guard bow out but new blood underwhelms - and will it be Bellamy's last ride?

Truth is we can do without him, sure great player, but a distraction. Storm have been about TEAM work one player no bigger role than the other. We have carried some Deadwood the past couple of seasons and with the younger players coming on and the recruits to fill tired players. Storm are in a great position, not saying they weren’t great players once but Mr Time has caught up with them.

Forwards who can’t either make big impact or run 100+ metres a game need to be benched in the modern game. Sorry Jesse, you were great.

The allure of love and home will always haunt Melbourne Storm

That’s the short list unfortunately 😢

The ones who got away: Melbourne Storm

6 didn’t play Rep Footy till after 2006, including Cronk. And some only played cameo roles. Most of the players you have listed where cheap buys from other clubs and performed their best at Storm, so forgive the Storm for bringing out the best in players. Something other Clubs seem at a loss to master.

Eels shouldn't have 36-year drought: Why Parra and Manly deserve Storm’s stripped salary cap trophies

Defraud: illegally obtain money from (someone) by deception. How much money did they take from you? The payments were given willingly. Does the person who steals some poor retired Soldiers last cent to feed his lavish life style deserve a harsher sentence than the person who defrauds a multinational Company of Millions? When Thousands of Shareholders lose money? Same crime in the eyes of the Law.

Eels shouldn't have 36-year drought: Why Parra and Manly deserve Storm’s stripped salary cap trophies

Well 6 didn’t play any rep football till after 2006, including Cronk 2007. And a couple had 1 or 2 games. You have what is it 6,7,9 Panthers playing as the NSW Team Currently. I don’t think a couple of these guys prior to going to Storm were knocking down doors for Rep footy, but your saying it wasn’t from hard work these guys made it was Money, Cheating? They’d been holding back prior to the cheap contracts they signed to get into Storms system?

Eels shouldn't have 36-year drought: Why Parra and Manly deserve Storm’s stripped salary cap trophies

Not too sure if this puts it into perspective, yes you are correct they did start the Salary breech during 2010 season clearly not learning the lesson handed out to Storm who for one whole year played for no points (even though not in breech of Salary Cap that year) Eels went onto play for points once they tidied up their books. So why wasn’t Storm allowed to play for points? They had the premiership stripped. But obviously not enough?

Eels shouldn't have 36-year drought: Why Parra and Manly deserve Storm’s stripped salary cap trophies

😊 You can’t seriously believe Cronulla was over the Salary cap the Year before and the Year after their only ever Premiership. But clean bill of health the year they won?
Regarding the Eels, well I remember all the boos the terrible signs at the Eels vs Storm games after the Salary Cap debacle, strangely when the Eels subsequently went over the Salary Cap no such Signs or Boos.
Every Club has thwarted the Salary Cap and probably still are but the players have suffered the consequences.

Eels shouldn't have 36-year drought: Why Parra and Manly deserve Storm’s stripped salary cap trophies

Sorry guys but did you miss the Dylan Brown hit to Munster’s lower posterior ribs after he had already been tackled (3rd Man in) you know where Munster pointed him out, because clearly only Munster and I saw it??? This is where your kidney hide something which can lead to internal bleeding, nothing in it though.
Yep I agree NAS needed to be punished but lets get a grip it goes both ways.

Wow DNZ could you please name 2 players who have been as pursued as Cheese, or of his standard that Storm supposedly poached from another side?
Happy to even put a wager on it you can’t find 2.
Don’t even go Coates please the Broncos didn’t even start him most games.
I love cheese, now time for him to go. If Roosters don’t have Cap for him then he can find himself another job for 12 months or live off the earnings Storm have provided him.

BREAKING: Furious Storm consider cutting the Cheese after controversial podcast comments

Did anybody hear about what eventuated with the Penrith Boys who desecrated the League Trophy after the GF in their celebrations? And did they actually take the CC Medal off Cleary as was reported ??

Clock's ticking. Why the Melbourne Storm only has one year to win another premiership

I think the Storm Players themselves would agree Cam Smith and Cooper Cronk were their Pillars, but I sense a change coming the way the Storm played last year and I too could be very wrong.

But what I would suggest the rule changes were suppose to take their Game Plan out leveling the field so to speak, but they adjusted better than anyone else, why?
I seem to watch the game and think Cheese is in charge here, then suddenly it was Hughes is in charge and so on, I think that made them more a moving target and why the game flowed for them, I am not in their Think Tank, but watching them they have gone away from 1 General to 5 Lieutenants, all who are given permission to storm the troops forward without instruction.
Just a thought.

Clock's ticking. Why the Melbourne Storm only has one year to win another premiership

How do you suggest they keep Storm afloat return all the players they have produced that have gone to other clubs? Or are you suggesting they get granted a larger Salary Cap, because I am all for that because if they could retain their home produced players well lets just say I would back them Every Year on the nose to be in GF.
I know it’s a Conspiracy players play average to good so they get picked up by Storm to BECOME GREAT!!!
And COVID is not real, people are pretending to be dead. Please….

Clock's ticking. Why the Melbourne Storm only has one year to win another premiership

I tend to agree, with all the distractions of losing players in the not too distant future, I believe there are some clubs who will be much more competitive this year and coming years with some fantastic buys, talking about Sharks and Bulldogs in particular. And I think their fans will have much to enjoy.
I have followed Storm since it’s inception being a Bulldogs fan prior, but I actually believe Coates will surpass Addo-Carr (no disrespect) and Warbrick after some time may surpass both of them.
Looking at the guys waiting in the wings I actually think there is another dynasty brewing it’s really up to the Cheese, Hughesy etc… to resign. If they take a leaf out of Welch’s book were a good pay rise and smart investment portfolio is the way to go then Storm are likely to be top 4 for the foreseeable future, or at least 10 years.

Clock's ticking. Why the Melbourne Storm only has one year to win another premiership

I think the true testament to Storm is they according to all League fans they introduced ‘The Wrestle’ all other Clubs followed suit just probably not as good.
So the 6 again rule is introduced to stop ‘The Wrestle’ what is of interest the club it should have bought to it’s knees, has thrived.
Others have continued to wrestle and hold on to the old ways, it would be a great statistic to see which clubs have given more 6 again. Given certain Refs are a little trigger happy it’s not going to be solid but what is?

Melbourne Storm 2020 vs 2021: The statistical point of view

Surely the cheating sides in NSW who by the grace of NRL administrators (God) have retained their ill gotten gains, celebrate??? How the hell do some of these sides maintain multiple Marquee players within the salary cap. Obviously they all take large pay cuts just to play with the side? Never to be repaid, just for the love of the game.

Happy anniversary: The Storm's 2009 anniversary celebrations are in poor taste
