Hazlewood bowled well. From a viewing perspective I’d just love to see the other 3 bowl together.

I would like to see Warner have to earn his place in the side after a terrible Ashes. I would also like to see one Test on Australian soil where Cummins, Starc, and Pattinson play in the same XI.

Persisting with Warner and Harris, lengthening the tail in a game you only need to draw, and electing to bowl first make it even more ludicrous. It’s like they did everything possible to lose that final game.

Surely the umpires are there to adjudicate correctly? Maybe the Aussies should be like Broad and not even face the umpire when appealing but intstead charge down the pitch and start high fiving the slip cordon.

Ronan I think the main criticism for Marsh has been not justifying his place in the top 6 as a batsmen. His bowling will always be seen as a bonus. If he batted from 8 down the emphasis would be on his bowling and his batting would be the bonus. I don’t understand why Siddle was selected if Marsh was a lock. If anything the Marsh selection should have opened the door to a Pattinson or Starc, in terms of variation and batting depth.

Lesson I’ve learned is that Warner is untouchable. Both Khawaja and Head have offered more and been dropped. Broad has worked him out and Australia is battling a man down, but let’s drop Head. They’ve adopted the Adelaide Crows selection policy… drop juniors and keep underperforming seniors.

Picking 5 bowlers is a very attacking move as you are generally stacking the bowling at the expense of scoring runs. This makes more sense if you are the team that NEEDS to win. I can understand England doing this but it makes no sense for Australia to do it as they are 2-1 up. I’d contemplate resting Lyon if his finger is giving him grief, playing 4 quicks and Marnus as the spinner. That’s 5 bowling options anyway.

Problem is, the 12 months of mediocrity from Marsh if he gets selected again. He’s not ready for Test cricket on merit yet. Let’s see him post a big Shield season first.

The key I feel is choosing players and tactics according to conditions. Some players cannot play spin, is it worth playing them for the sake of team cohesion? … I don’t think so. We choose specialist ODI or T20 teams, why not Test teams according to conditions?

You serious? Ever go to Port Willunga on a a clear summers day. Also some of the best protected swimming beaches in the country along the metro coast with bright pink sunsets at 8.30pm during summer.
