Deucer,

I don’t think I am confusing freedom of speech with an employers contract, neither you or I have seen the contract and Folau has said that there was nothing in the contract that forbid him from posting to social media about his beliefs. And further to that if freedom of religion is a basic human right under international law, on what basis would RA be able to justify such a clause.
I think the questions you have posed are irrelevant to the case at hand because rugby is sport it should not be politicized and used for social engineering. I think a better question would be what would you say if the major sponsor of a sporting team was a fundamentalist Muslim and he pressured the sporting team to sack a player that was vocal for gay rights. Would you be saying that you shouldn’t be confusing freedom of speech with employer contracts.

A letter to Alan Jones on the matter of Israel Folau

Who’s example is RA following, oppressing free thought and differing views is more consistent with the Nazi’s. Merely having an opinion that doesn’t line up with the commisars of political correctness doesn’t make him a Nazi

A letter to Alan Jones on the matter of Israel Folau

Not sure what your point is here, in relation to the post from Israel Folau that has caused all this controversy, it would appear that you both would be in agreement. I mean his Bible quote stated that Hell would be the result of following a pedophile lifestyle and you would seem from your post that you would agree

I think your appeal to Nazism is misplaced, I mean Folau is guilty only of having a differing opinion that does not line up with the current political correct mentality.
It would be more appropriate to be casting the comparison between RA and the Nazis I mean both are clearly guilty of oppressing any differing opinions.

A letter to Alan Jones on the matter of Israel Folau

Before I comment on the article, there are a number of things that are important to set straight.
To begin with Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states amoungst other things that people are to required to have freedom of religion and that includes the freedom to publically express these beliefs in society.
So for rugby australia to say that they have a policy of inclusion that basically attempts to strip their employees of this fundamental human right. Their inclusion policy appears to work against the very objective of inclusion because anything that goes against their very narrow set of beliefs is automatically excluded.
One common issue find in society today is that there is a confusion between opinion and discrimination. It should be fine for people to have and express opinions (even those that are at odds with the sacred gay lobby), now I agree that this expression should be as respectful as possible but having read Israel Folau’s post I think that he did deliver it in a respectful way. Now discrimination is not a mere expression of beliefs it is where you conduct an action to negatively affect another person because of a belief or characteristic that you dislike. Kindof like if a CEO of a large organisation uses his power to destroy the career of a person who holds a belief that they disagree with.
The sentiment that is being communicated in this letter appears to be that there are some people in our community that are struggling with their sexual identity and because of this we need to restrict freedom of speech to block all speech that disagrees with a homosexual perpective.
Is the problem the fact that people are voicing opposing views or is it that they are not able to tolerate opposing viewpoints.
If so can this same line of reasoning be applied to men in general as the suicide statistics for men in Australia are astronomically high. So are we allowed to call a halt to all of the positive discrimination that is associated with the Womens movement together with all of the criticism of men that goes along with that in order to save some of these lives?. I mean we are talking the same thing here
