I do like heavily structured forward plays as it’s ultimately creating something for the backs, lineouts ,scrums, rolling mauls set plays I’m fine with heavily coached regimented robotic behaviour…one out stuff annoys the crap out of me BUT with the backs yes some clever moves I’m all for but off the cuff stuff with fast moving counter plays is where we should be heading…N.Z Wallabies type game..sadly only one of those plays it like that now ..

Australia's rugby talent is the 'best we've had since 2003' - it's time to let them flourish, not be shackled by team 'system'

Great teams are always cyclical and they will be fewer and farther apart one gets the feeling in Australian rugby unfortunately but agreed there’s some great young talent coming thru and a group of older players who have the ability too be more successful given the right coach and game plan..I’d add the Force open side to that I think he is an outstanding talent and potentially world class if given the chance..some people get overlooked if your not in the right teams we have too get past that philosophy..find the right talent and get them in the Wallaby camps..find out only way.

Apologies Anglo Celts vs polys…that would get tongues wagging in this woke world but would sell out.Indigenous play the winners in sevens..

The Wrap: Rebels young gun rockets out of Wallabies contention, and why Samipeni Finau's 'brutal' hit on Edmed was fair game

Think you nailed it mate…secondly Terrance Wright.

Tune and Mitchell were no lomu in terms of brute strength but hardly pee wee Herman,I loved that pin back ears and pick hole type players this kid is a real throw back to years gone by where great step elusive swerve and speed of the mark more than top end speed..either way let’s hope he stays fit and keeps popping up in the right spots..

Agreed..that chip kick from Ryan was ballsy .

Interested too see Schmidt take on selection…go with tried and failed types or just say what the hell there’s these young guys who don’t care about the past losses and are eager to play a style that we can all get behind…it’s def time for a change but how much how far .

Scope on Daugunu is what I like…bruising defender can sniff a try.Shame a little didn’t stay in QLD .

Nothing wrong with that trio .. Skelton is a must it’s just who is his Foyle in the other lock.. Another power player or workhorse type who goes unnoticed.

Only reservation I have with Wright and it’s only small ..can we carry any non abrasive attackers in the pack more than we have too .The games headed in that direction for a while and you can quickly not get front foot ball and your stuffed BUT his football brain is invaluable in any team.. interesting too see how Schmidt heads because there’s a decent Wallaby team lingering around it just needs the pieces out in the right order..

Paisami is very matured…can be injury prone so let’s not put Mock on him but super impressed with him yesterday…older statesman type game and he isn’t that but every option the correct one…Wright was great as well.

Yes had great success with that Terrier type but Jonah lomu started that fascination with bigger is better ..it’s starting to reverse a bit back too the busy type speedy finisher..

Great step though Peter.. possibly not electric but tell that too the Blues defenders. Its easy in OZ rugby too dream about the next big thing and thats not the right approach here but very exciting debut nonetheless..reminds me of a Rob Edgerton or Terry Wright type not much of him but be busy back people up and timing beats speed and power ..

Who cares where they come from..bunch of snobs most rugby enthusiasts and snobs arent something you can run your business off..perhaps a cigar and cognac bar on double bay…that’s it!!

Rooster must remodel: Angus Crichton says he'd want to 'dominate' in rugby union - this is what he'd have to change

Johnny D wife my second cousin ..what a player in both codes.

Like our forwards do????

Elsom would have made league he became a beast after returning from Ireland…out in noticeable size and was all mongrel..signed from league 95 kilos and not physical enough..

Mat Rogers could play lawn balls .
Freak!! Cost us WC but was very good at both codes.

In fairness Barnes was a rugby player that went to league briefly..

Needs front rowers.. Flyhalf ( desperately)inside that can crash thru line and PASS!! Think Shuster is the better convert to chase..Suaalii looks good no doubt on his running abilities.

We always excelled regardless of our weakness in forward pack etc by having hot centres ..can’t list them all legends,we DON’T have anything ATM.

Yes that’s true but League backrowers traditionally get played inside..he is def worth a look at 7 but it’s such along time since he has played and that position is so technical with poaching etc prob inside as as abrasive defender attacker with subtle hands thru line hopefully…he is talented no doubt on that and tough.

If Angus is truly keen he would be great…he has a football brain no doubt about that..knows how to compete and is a winner.I thought Shuster is better suited from what I’ve seen of league players and pedigree and skill set to make a difference in a wallabies back line jumper…sure there’s more like Cleary .But Schuster id be getting in touch with.
