Mate spot on. Last season debreczeni had a lot of game time last few weeks and was instrumental in brumbies season. Loved this year first cameo back from injury walked on and slotted from sideline. Carter has a random kicking game, the ball can go anywhere, whereas noah and jack win kicking duels. Lynagh needs to prove he’s SR level first which hasnt happened. Meredith is the unluckiest #10 in oz, 3rd in line! Tahs or reds should start him.

Five burning questions: How many Tahs and Force players will end up in gold, and is this farewell Melbourne?

Debreczeni is better than gordon and donaldson put together. He’s certainly better than carter by a mile. But its not usually about form is it.

Cool article. Though interesting points can be drawn. 1) You want to play the best but also you need mid quality games to sort yourself out. Oz teams only have each other (mostly) and the highlanders (at present). 2) RA needs other goals. Its narrow that pass/fail = ABs results. June test window has failed as other countries send C teams. If in Europe we’d have great rivalries with several countries. This needs sorting.

The insurmountable problem facing Australian rugby in a doomed rivalry with New Zealand

How have 3 SR teams gone with 10s who arent (yet) 10s? Lynagh, Jorgenson might be one day. Carter never has been. Maybe select on form for a change? Force now has Donaldson, Brumbies have 3 guys(!) up to it. Theyre out there, just need a selection policy.

Jorgensen set to be left out for Hurricanes as Schmidt drops in at Tahs training

Its an interesting point that media test for a #10 is scoring tries themselves, which is not really the job. Organising the attack, winning territory battles, putting others through holes created is a #10. Carter is also let off missing all these if he scores himself. A real problem for wallabies.

No it wasnt

Brumbies knock over Hurricanes in statement win as Wright shines again behind forward pack

The guys never have the ball when hit and the pretend arm wave is the oldest trick. If a brumby did them, red every time, but kiwis are always allowed to get away with it. A northern ref in a test will have a more professional view, hope they try it early, they’ll play a man down. I dont understand why we dont do them back! Hit mckenzie every single time he gets up. Off the ball looks like its ok with refs at present. And forwards-your fault for not protecting the halves!!

'Purely coincidental': Chiefs coach defends bruiser after ANOTHER late shot leaves Tah flattened - but was it legal?

Not a swinging arm, it was arm and shoulder to head of a guy on the ground. Red card every time. Reds will go ok minus tate though, never been impressed. Have a good pack, problem is their backs right. Bit like tahs. No doubt wallabies will be gordon/tate combo because of politics but not the best combination by a long shot.

'Not ideal': Reds star duo cop Super Rugby bans after red cards - but where's the consistency?

Another cracking round coming up. Difficult selections in an attrition/rotation zone for players. For once the tahs grabbing someone from shute shield mid season! Tahs ball getting stuck in the mid-field for mine, hard for a winger. Mark is a decent winger but he’s never been a corey toole setting up plays etc despite the hype. And he’s still not the biggest backline issue for mine. Good luck to the new guy, great opportunity.

Super Rugby teams round 8: Tahs drop Marky Mark, Kellaway returns for Rebels, HMP replaces Lynagh

The state associations could always do something about participation numbers. Federated sports make it easy for a state association to blame upwards. Not sure kicking out the current board makes much difference, the ones from 10 years ago that decided 5 super clubs and sunk millions into rebels and tahs would be interesting çhats. But spilled milk now. Maybe instead of spilling boards, these guys could go volunteer in the sport (maybe you do already)?

COMMENT: Australian rugby is a depressing picture - the RA board must be axed and the constitution changed

Pick any federated sport for the same situation. Which reflects society right? We mostly see ourselves as from a state.

Exclusive: Herbert claims 'steady progress' in rebuilding trust as RA seeks to avert more board bloodshed at AGM

I dont doubt your expertise piccolino, i just recall when roffy was appointed the RA president was described as a figurehead-only role so no real impact. Roffy wanted, from reports, to be more in the mix but was blocked….

MalBreakaway, they are good points the tahs pack stopped the brumbies maul, like the reds, im still taking that in as a brumbies fan. The tahs set piece base was good, its not like theres nothing to build on. The Brumbies have really diversified their attack.

Brumbies make it 12 straight against Tahs as Bell hobbles off in worrying sign for Wallabies

LeftRightOut for me with Mark, its he scored a couple of flashy wing tries where he was just passed the ball (which is fine) and people/media jumped from ‘ok winger’ to ‘the second coming’ (no offence) as rugby does. Hes never gone and got the ball like Toole and has never set anything up. Hes just not that guy. But he is a tah so straight to WB.

Its a good question ATW, and not a new one. Maybe its go to the same parties, talk about the tahs with your ex tah mates, sydney obsession with nrl? I think theyre the points on the investment powerpoint

Sorry cec, it was a poor shot at so many brumbies seemingly in form but on the outer with RA. I didnt mean legally ineligible. 🙂

…yet may struggle to get selected Old School Rugby. The level of hatred of the brumbies at RA is hard to get your head around and the tahs bubble is an interesting phenomenon

Definitely Reds Harry. And you can also just know the squad will still have edmed, Lynagh, donaldson, carter because RA will have a ‘vision’.

Probably right cec, and maybe the chosen one turned around and said actually not until too late in the season to he held accountable so round 4 has become round 10 or so. Maybe they could have swapped some assistants, like attack coach or ‘getting it moving faster in attack’ coach. Theres enough player base not to throw everything out for mine

Brumbies make it 12 straight against Tahs as Bell hobbles off in worrying sign for Wallabies

Tahs stole lineouts, stopped the brumbies maul, held up two tries and created overlaps. Winger out of position twice second half otherwise in for sure. Both sides turned over ball at breakdown. Its the tahs backs imo. Dont play as a line. Edmed/Jorgenson couldnt win a kicking duel to save themselves. Jorgenson is over-hyped, needs to launch counter attacks, compare to what Wright brings to the game. Jake needs to organise the go-forward better. Dont see how a new coach fixes any of that.

Interesting debreczeni is different style but as good as lolesio. Had a very impactful 10 minutes back from injury tonight and was stellar back half last season. Still, brumbies backs likely continue to be ineligible for wallabies and best tah/rebel for the job will be in, such is RA.

Brumbies make it 12 straight against Tahs as Bell hobbles off in worrying sign for Wallabies

Brumbies have a lot of local talent in the squad if people bother to research. Why else did RA want their systems? And tahs/reds could maybe do better at hanging onto the talent if you dont want them playing for brumbies. Why should players not get a game because reds/tahs discard them? Your 1000 crowd figure is rubbish and not based on fact. This sort of tahs-based propaganda is bad for the game imo. And each to their own but youve obviously never been to the stadium.

Brumbies make it 12 straight against Tahs as Bell hobbles off in worrying sign for Wallabies

Neither side won or lost, brumbies were just in front at 80 minutes. When was the last time oz rugby was like that? (Actually a few recent brumbies v reds games eh) That was an awesome game.
Reds maybe 9/10 combo work to get territory to exploit pack dominance more and theyd have won by a lot. But just a few passes sticking and that stupid not straight call and its the brumbies way. Thats rugby. What a game!

He won the kicking contest which is important part of a #10.

'It was brutal': Clutch Lolesio kicks Brumbies to 'Test match intensity' win over Reds as Wright shines again

Mate, CG has no tactical kicking game and couldnt organise a backline unopposed at training. These are key things for a #10. Running round a forward to score a try is not what he’s there for.
