I believe the problem starts with the administration of rugby in this country. We need a comprehensive overhaul of the ARU and state rugby Boards and their management. The mission and vision for rugby in this country needs to be re-engineered to fit with the changed circumstances of rugby in the professional age. What is the vision and how will Australian rugby get there? I see no evidence that anyone in Oz rugby has the faintest idea of either!

On 1st Sept 2016 I sent a letter to the NSWRU and Bill Pulver at the ARU letting them know how I felt about the membership gouging (a 56.3% one of price rise for all Life Members of the NSWRU) about to be introduced for the 2017 season. Not only did I outline why I was so angry at their stupid move and what I thought it would do to rugby in NSW but I attempted to offer constructive criticism to both on how management of rugby in Australia might be improved.

Surprise, surprise but I got no response from the NSWRU and Bill Pulver to his credit did reply (albeit a bit tritely) but failed to address any of the issues seriously spending all of his time justifying what he had been doing recently. I noted in recent games in 2017 the appalling lack of attendance at Waratah games at the SFS. I wonder NSWRU Board do you think now that you may have overcooked things and should probably have taken note of some of my “helpful suggestions”?

Is it any wonder that rugby in this country is stuffed when people like that lead it?!

I am no longer a NSWRU Life Member and have not been to a game all season. That’s pretty sad when one considers I have had an uninterrupted nearly 20 years as a life member and have been to multiple games every season prior to this 2017 season!

The solution to the shambles that is Australian rugby (Part 1)

Here’s a thought on the Wallabies performance.

What was lacking last night was ability to think on one’s feet when situations changed (as they do constantly in a rugby game), mental toughness, imagination, fitness and constantly flawless execution (ability to do the easy things such as a linout throw or a tackle).

We need someone who can instil that discipline in the team.

Michael as coach you can remedy that.

Give the Australian SAS a ring and see if they can formulate a training programme for your players to help in all of those areas.

Their motto of ‘Who dares Wins’ says a lot about them and they have never (as far as I am aware) ever disappointed or not lived up to it.

As a passionate Wallaby supporter of 32 years I was embarrassed and angered at the complete rubbish dished up by the Wannabes/Wobblies/Woefuls last night.

Where do they get off thinking the cr*p they dished up on the 20th August is acceptable reward for people who spent $179 a ticket to come and support them and be entertained by them. There was not one rugby brain cell on show in their performance, no heart or commitment and frankly they looked like over paid spoiled brats going through the motions so that they could get paid.

If I had the power I would fire the lot of them, the ARU board and the coaches and start again.

Australian rugby has fallen to hitherto unplumbed depths and is in deep sh*t!

Hang your heads in shame Wallabies. You are nowhere near the class of the 1990 – 2002 Wallabies who blazed a magnificent trail through international rugby and left you with a wonderful legacy which YOU have trashed.

I don’t mind losing but I DO MIND losing in the manner in which you lost last night!

Wake up to yourselves children!
