Tigers got away with a couple dodgy PTBs in that set

Could be mate, didn’t consider that.

Always been a fan of both brothers but Turbo definitely not having a good day. Hopefully he can turn it around come SoO and earn himself a jersey.

Good defence negates bad calls.

First time I’ve been a bit concerned about calls of Turbo for NSW fullback. His positioning for the first try was way off.

Facts are facts, they don’t have allegiances.

How I made the final leap from journalist to activist

I was expecting him to reach great heights under Bennett.

I don’t think he’ll be anymore than a good solid centre.

I remember reading an article back in 2011 with the author saying he is the next Folau.

Each to their own I guess. Barry would be one of the first people on the Roar that I’d have a beer with.

It’s now or never for the bottom five

Tim Cahill has been on the NRL footy show in the past. A lot of people I know follow both the A-League and NRL.

It's the fact that football is a global game that drives its critics crazy

Sounds like a pretty good novel. “The day my jewels got gypped”

It’s now or never for the bottom five

Don’t see any of the teams you’ve listed getting to a higher position than 5th. It does look like one of those years so I wouldn’t be shocked from what I’ve seen so far if a team in the bottom part of the eight ends up winning the premiership. Definitely isn’t much separating the teams so far but it is early early days.

You answered your own question there. Packer served jail time and Lodge has not. Is that Lodge’s fault? Definitely not. He could turn up to any jail, get down on both knees and beg for them to incarcerate him and he’d just get turned away. Out of his control.

The NRL didn’t handle this situation as well as they could have.

What a difference a week can make for the Brisbane Broncos

Packer served time in jail though, he did the time. Honestly I think had Lodge been put behind bars for 6-12 months people would feel different about his return.

Bennett takes shot at media after victory

Haven’t held the highest opinion of Milford but him checking Nightingale was okay was great sportsmanship. Respect.

Morning Ryan good to have you back.

1. Obviously I’d love for this to happen, we’re in with a good chance this year but regardless will be a hard fought thing to win, definitely need to be much more convincing and start playing the full eighty minutes. Can’t recall the amount of times we’ve gotten out to a good lead and then fallen asleep. Frustrating to say the least.

2. I feel that 4th spot is up for grabs for a number of teams, don’t believe there will be much separating 4th from 12th. I think the Cowboys, Roosters and Storm will top the table by a margin of at least six points.

3. Injuries aside, I think the Eels will make the eighth. Yes they lost their most potent strike weapon, but Brad Arthur is a good coach and will get the Eels to the finals.

4. Well this prediction can’t go hand in hand with your next. History has told us so time and time again. I’d love to see NSW take the series and without JT and Cronk in the halves this is probably our best chance in a while, hopefully Fitler can pick a balanced squad that can take it to QLD as well as build for the future.

5. Again NSW won’t win with Pearce in the halves, I’m not even going to say I’m happy to be proven wrong cause if he is picked I might go on some sort of rampage. Jokes aside the guy is a great club footballer, his stats have been consistently good over the years at Bondi, but that’s where it stops. Hope he does well at Newcastle but I really hope we’ve seen the last of him in sky blue.

Five fearless predictions for the 2018 NRL season

I have a distinct memory of the Dragons winning the minor premiership in 2009 and then being knocked out in straight sets. That’s choking in it’s purest form, in fact I’m pretty sure it’s first and only time it’s happened.

Pre-season preview: Will the Dragons choke in 2018?

Good article. I went to high school in Lewisham, a working class area which I’d consider league territory. Three NRL clubs are reasonably close by, those being Canterbury, Souths and Wests and in the five years I attended there wasn’t a single appearance by any player at any level of rugby league . Contrary to that in year eight we did Auskick for the whole second semester. Understandable if this was in the eastern suburbs maybe but this was in the inner west.

Funnily enough I just saw an advert for Junior League for the first time, an ad with kids obviously targeted at kids and it’s broadcast at 11:08 on a school night. Seems like a good way to waste money.

AFL is winning hearts and minds because the NRL just does nothing

It would be called a front kick in a number of martial arts actually, though normally performed standing up the action is pretty similar.

She hurt another player doing something that has no place in the game and wasn’t provoked. Give her a month in the hole like Andy Dufresne.

Carlton conquer impotent Pies in 2018 AFLW opener

As an Easts supporter if they merged with Souths I’d jump ship to Wests without thinking twice.

It is time to kill the salary cap and let the market decide for itself

I was thinking the same. Either both penalties or none. There wasn’t much in either for me though should have been play on.

Might sound crazy but I wouldn’t mind seeing how he goes as a second rower, if he improves his defence and increases his stamina I think he’d go alright.

BREAKING (again): Jarryd Hayne leaving Gold Coast, Titans reportedly set to confirm exit later today

Perenara should get the nod given he is a neutral if he is available.

Matt Cecchin will get the nod despite contentious call

You could likely find a still of Adriana Lima looking average if you wanted to. Stills don’t always paint the full picture Terry.

Tonga versus England: A great exhibition of rugby league

Personally I feel some of your suggestions are spot on, others not so much.

I wouldn’t have Hayne anywhere near the team, it’s about building a brotherhood and you just can’t do it with players who can’t put the team before themselves.

I would have Teddy at fullback and put Mansour on the wing.

Right centre my pick would be Walker.
I’m conflicted on Croker, can’t deny his effort and discipline and is a good goal kicker but I’m not sure his defence is to Origin standard. I think in 2019 the position will have Mitchell’s name on it anyway but I wouldn’t begrudge Croker an opportunity.

As for the halves, I feel in a few years time it will be Moses at 6 and Cleary at 7, but in the meantime I would rather the halfback position filled by Reynolds rather than Farah who is bound to turn the ball over cheaply when the game is in the balance. Moylan at 6 would be my pick.

I’m probably biased but I would have Cordner in the 2nd row over Vaughn who still gets a bench spot for mine at Prior’s expense and finally Bird for the utility role.

Fittler on the roof! NSW Blues confirm new State of Origin coach

You’d think NSW had been consistently flogged (please don’t bring up Game III 2015 it still hurts) these last 11 years. Many games were pretty close considering the quality of the QLD players in key positions compared to NSW and on so many occasions NSW let themselves down with their shocking decision making. Not to take anything away from QLD, emotion aside they’ve been a joy to watch and who knows perhaps if they felt NSW was more threatening they may have stepped it up another notch.

All the best with the role Freddy I hope you do us proud.
