Tim’s point is that the system shouldn’t be changed over a single incident. You can’t judge it solely on footage of Cameron on Friday night. An independent doctor would have to review *every* head knock (and potential head knock) in real time, not just the ones that are obvious.
What happens if the independent doctor rules out a player that didn’t even feel the impact?
What happens if they clear a player that develops delayed symptoms later?

Six Points: AFL must act on Cameron concussion farce, 2024's best game, and the end of days arrives in Victoria

“You can argue about Milne’s unlucky bounce costing St Kilda in 2010, but that comeback was more about individual brilliance from players than good coaching from Lyon”
You could also make the argument that individual brilliance dragged Geelong over the line in 2009, though. And it’s always going to be difficult to lay praise or blame on players or coach without knowing what’s going on behind the scenes.

St Kilda in peril yet again - but are their problems due to Lyon's coaching or the quality of the cattle?

This article, Tim?

Six Points: Channel 7's commentary, the AFL's most underrated coach, and what on earth is wrong with a draw?

It’s especially impressive that Weitering was able to hold Daniher and Lynch to a combined 3 goals in games when he didn’t play.

Questions to ponder ahead of Round 5: Are we sleeping on the Cats, Will West Coast's pain continue and How good are the Dees' forwards?

It’s not quite Alice, but the Cats play in Darwin in Rd 10.

Six Points: Clutch kings do it again, footy's dirtiest player, and debunking 'Vic-centric' fixture myth

And yet Freo won both games comfortably, despite Jackson’s ‘weakness’. And of the 4 games last year where Darcy got 50+ hitouts, Freo lost 3 (and the 1 win was West Coast).
I’ll trust your opinion of your own team, and abandoning Darcy in the ruck off the back of 2 games is definitely stupid, but saying “Jackson lost the hitouts, so he’s clearly at his worst in the ruck” is a huge oversimplification.

Six Points: Papley's hypocrisy, Wright's Tribunal verdict the wrong call, and why are we retiring Pendlebury?

Can we stop using “malice” as a yardstick for measuring incidents? Could any incident in modern football actually be attributed to malice?
Here’s my take: if a player did act with malice and injured a player, and you could prove it, they should get an extended holiday until they can demonstrate that they’re there to play football.

Six Points: Papley's hypocrisy, Wright's Tribunal verdict the wrong call, and why are we retiring Pendlebury?

I think the shorter preseason is a bit overblown (GWS only had 1 more week, after all), but Geelong and Collingwood have had 2 of the oldest premiership teams and then struggled to start the following season, so maybe it’s a combination of age and a shorter preseason.

Footy Fix: Fly's Pies have officially been worked out - but that's just the start of their problems

If a seat that has been held by one party since 1999 and was won by 30% at the last election is considered “marginal”, then every seat is marginal.

'Dripping in inequality and stupidity': Footy is back... and so is AFL interference
