While the issue of forward passes is a very real one that needs to be discussed, why is this so controversial in comparison to the other times the Warriors have been on the other end? Other teams have forward pass complaints against them every week but now we need a rule change because this game pushed the issue over the edge? Why?

Also why is Ricky so reluctant to acknowledge that the Warriors out played his team in the second half regardless of the pass?

Forward pass technology already exists: Video replays and a little common sense

It will likely be the decision of World Rugby rather than Japan. They may have known about bad weather but not a super Typhoon.

Most stadiums can handle strong winds, but a super typhoon is a completely different matter. I think people are underestimating how seriously Japan is treating this as a threat to general public safety in the area. Local people are quite scared.

Typhoon Hagibis has everyone stirred up at the RWC

From the Japanese JR website:

“Japan’s typhoon season ranges from May to October each year, peaking in August and September. There is no need to avoid travel during these months, however.

Why not? Each year, about 30 typhoons or tropical storms form over the Pacific ocean. Approximately seven to eight of these may affect the island of Okinawa, and only three reach Japan’s main islands. Your travel plans are unlikely to be affected.”

This is a bit of a freak incident rather than something to be expected. The logistics of moving the games I imagine are enormous, and the entire area will have transport closed down when the typhoon hits. Rugby is important for a lot of people, but the danger extends to the entire area, and even everyone making their way to a new smaller stadium in the coming days would potentially be too much to sort out.

The more that this is written about, the less faith I have that Australia will even make it to the semi finals. Apparently winning the rest of their games is not a priority, but this tackle sure will be an excuse if something else does not go right.

Reece Hodge ban highlights rugby's farcical judicial process

No other country will or has made this the focus of the World Cup though. There is no reason to stop watching it because of this (that’s aimed at Squirellgrip) and definitely no reason to bring up LGBT issues.

More World Cup fan angst to come as farcical Hodge suspension sinks in

No other country really cares about this case, so if Australians want to ignore the rugby side of the World Cup, go ahead. I hope you are prepared to deal with the discussions on racism, sexism and inclusion in AFL too.

“All four on-field officials from Saturday’s contentious Eels v Warriors clash will be demoted in round 20, with lead referee Sutton, assistant Chris Buttler and touch judges Clayton Sharpe and Adam Cassidy all in the firing line as the NRL conceded multiple mistakes were made.”

The NRL acknowledges how poorly the game was officiated.

"Ref's fault" culture ruining rugby league

If this had been posted after a previous week of NRL then I would understand, but it is slightly biased to post this after the Warriors game against the Eels. Did it cost the Warriors their season? no, they have ruined it themselves. However, even as an Eels fan you cannot tell me that was a fair game for the Warriors.

"Ref's fault" culture ruining rugby league

The Rams are 100% the real deal, last year was a nice improvement and now we see that their progress was not a one off fluke, it was the step towards this year.

I see Mahomes having two big challenges. One is that after a few more games teams will figure him out and start defending accordingly. Two is the curse of Andy Reid and of the Chiefs in general once the playoffs begins.

Pittsburgh was in trouble last year and was lucky to end the season the way they did. This year is just a continuation of that.

Seeing Mayfield still lose after his team poured on points was rather similar to the Rose Bowl, I guess there is only so much he can do before seeing his defence fail…..again.

Dolphins are a hard team to judge. They have had some real highs recently but everyone expects them to die down again as the Patriots take their spot back at the top.

By the way, what record do you think the 49ers will finish with this year?

Five takeaways from the NFL thus far

Look what happens when Jeff Fisher isn’t there. When they had a short documentary on the Rams moving to LA a few years ago and their preseason, Goff looked like a dumb mess and to see him now is amazing. They have the defence to back it up and their attack is on fire at the moment. It is the rare combination of stars that could be the dominant member on another team, but work perfectly together in this team. If the Rams and Chiefs are still firing next month, their match up might be the best game of the regular season.

Cooper Cronk? No, Cooper Kupp

“England’s Dally M”. That’s a strange way to term it, I’m sure nearly every NRL fan has heard of the Man of Steel Award.

Ben Barba in line for England's Dally M

Tuivasa Sheck also averaged around 170m per game and was usually best on ground or close to it in the games that he received points. He was consistent all season as the best player at the Warriors, and shone in the games he received points, that is why he won.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck claims maiden Dally M Medal

Selectively looking at 2 stats is a terrible way of judging a player. Did you watch many Warriors games?

Gould was doing his best NRL doomsday speech again so I would not trust that he cared whether Slater was technically guilty or not. If Slater is any other player would he have reacted the same? Probably not, so it is best to just ignore Gould.

Why the Slater decision is spot on

“3. Was the the player defending his line and therefore had no choice but to make contact- Yes”

If you are beaten by another player, you can’t just use an illegal tactic to get the job done. If you miss a tackle you can’t trip as they run past you, so why should you be able to hit another player like Slater did because there wasn’t enough time to prepare a proper tackle.

Slater innocent: Congratulations NRL judiciary, it was the right call

That most definitely is a reality, but all NRL fans are split on this, and to assume that everyone who thought he should be found guilty is that petty is a little ridiculous.

Why the Slater decision is spot on

Flanagan saying it means a lot, and I agree with you on that, but Gould trashed NSW for years even though he was a former coach because he hated a couple of players like Gallen. His head is stuck in the glory years (when that actually is for him I don’t know) where big players rule the field, and in this case, also off field judiciaries where reputation and playing ability is everything. Whether Slater was really guilty or not is one thing, but Gould’s entire discussion of it sounds like a crazy old man.

Why the Slater decision is spot on

“Their hatred/jealousy stems from the Storm being so good. So professional. So successful. I wouldn’t mind having a small wager that the fans baying for his blood are all New South Welshmen/women. Having your State being dominated for years causes them to hate any Qld State of Origin players & they are blinded by their own idiocy.”

You just ruined your own argument by writing a poor twisted narrative. The obsession with Origin might be prevalent where you live but most people get over it after the series finishes. Instead of confronting the idea that Billy is disliked for his playing actions, or that people wanted him independently banned because he was clearly peanlised for a shoulder charge, you’ve just assumed everyone is a simple minded hater. Accept that other people have real life ideas before writing a nice story about them.

Why the Slater decision is spot on

Gould’s credibility has disappeared to most people this year so he isn’t the best form of evidence, especially since his reasoning for Billy playing is that he is a “champion player”.

Why the Slater decision is spot on

hmmm I may have forgotten to mention that somewhere hahahaha

#FreeBilly! Storm the courts if you must, Melbourne

He’s an NRL player and nothing more. His skill as fullback doesn’t change that he shoulder charged someone. The fact that he is retiring doesn’t change that he shoulder charged someone. I don’t care about his fairytale and I don’t care about his reputation, he shoulder charged someone.

#FreeBilly! Storm the courts if you must, Melbourne

If you want to say how great Bellamy is then talk about his record post 2010 because it is amazing. All you have done is used tainted evidence to argue your point for his prowess before 2010. You must have known that people would instantly bring up the salary cap. As great as he may have been as a coach before 2010, he will always have that asterix, and it is better to be upfront about it rather than not mention it at all.

Legendary coach poised for 50 per cent grand final record

Four of those Grand Finals came while they were over the salary cap. Is it impressive still? Yes. Should it be celebrated? Definitely not. Due to the great reputations of Smith and Slater, the media still likes to pull out how many Grand Finals Melbourne made it too then avoid any talk of winning or losing. Just because their Grand Finals could not be stripped does not mean they should not be condemned for how they got there.
