Barry Hall - a bit of biff!

What is it with this media crucifixion of Barry Hall? He did it, he’ll accept the consequences for his action and he has said ‘sorry’.

To anyone who watches the different football codes they, like me, will witness week-in and week-out worse or similar behaviour. The media often will ignore it and claim it as part of playing the game.

The media were pretty slow in revealing the drug culture at the Eagles club and I find it hard to believe that no one seemed to know anything about it until after the grand finals.

Report Barry’s behaviour by all means, but please have a sense of proportion. Have the journalists gone and asked the mothers of all those players of all codes of football for their opinions after similar incidents, such as Jano Gibson has at the SMH?

I am not defending Barry’s actions as it was very wrong but I feel there is the potential to make it appear he has done something that no one else is guilty of. It was interesting to read of Leigh Matthews being criminally charged during his time as a player and from now on he should pull his head in when commenting on decisions made by the tribunal. I refer to his comments on Adam Goodes being a ‘protected species’ before the Swans / Brisbane match last week.

I guess it’s a matter of who can in all honesty ‘throw the first stone’. No one is perfect but all players and coaches try to do their best for the game they love and that’s why I am a Swans member and follow my team through the good and tough times.
