Australia have taken a comprehensive victory in the second game of their ODI series against New Zealand to retain the Rose Bowl at the Karen Rolton Oval in New Zealand.
While their batting struggled through the middle overs after a strong start from Alyssa Healy (47) and Rachael Haynes, it was Ellyse Perry who set the win up.
There were some small partnerships with others, but Perry held the innings together, eventually bring up her first ODI century for Australia, scoring 107 not out as the hosts put on 247.
Some early wickets had New Zealand reeling for the second game in a row, before Sophie Devine and Amy Satterthwaite had the visitors back in front of the game.
It didn’t last for long though, with Jess Jonassen ripping through again, picking up five wickets as the collapse saw New Zealand lose 8 for 59 to be all out 96 runs short of the target.

Australia will look to lock up the Rose Bowl and secure more vital ODI championship points when they take on New Zealand in Game 2 of their three-match series in Adelaide. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 10:50am (AEDT).
Australia looked to be on the back foot during Game 1 at the WACA, but somehow came away with a win thanks to some exceptional bowling in the clutch from Jess Jonassen.
She ended up with four wickets and man of the match honours as New Zealand crumbled from a position of strength to a five-run loss.
It came despite an exceptional 92 from captain Amy Satterthwaite, as they attempted to chase down what seemed to be an under-par 241. On a pitch which was bowler-friendly, both sides lost wickets at regular intervals, before the partnership between Satterthwaite and Katey Martin seemed to have the visitors heading for the win.
Earlier, Australia recovered to reach 241 thanks to a big innings from Rachael Haynes and good lower-order cameos from Jonassen and Ashleigh Gardner, who also bowled well.
The key for Australia to take an unassailable 2-0 lead is undoubtedly to score more runs. That starts at the top of the order, but to see all of Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning and Ellyse Perry (especially given the form she has been in) fail two matches in a row would be a shock.
New Zealand also need their top order to stand up. Sophie Devine and Suzie Bates both played poor, rushed shots to get out in Game 1, and they need to hang around and ease the pressure on their skipper.
On top of that, New Zealand need to find a way to combat Australia’s trio of spinners, Jonassen, Gardner and Georgia Wareham, who all bowled fantastically.
If they can’t do that and stop the wickets falling after pressure gets built up through low run rates, then it’ll be a rinse and repeat job.
Prediction
Looking at the two sides on paper, Australia are the stronger one without a shadow of a doubt. They weren’t at their best in Perth and still came away with the win, so on a pitch which should suit spin even more than Game 1, they should take the Rose Bowl in straight sets.
