Mitch Marsh’s hopes of earning a swift Test recall have been dashed after he was ruled out of Western Australia’s Sheffield Shield clash with Tasmania because of a shoulder injury.

Marsh was dropped for the second Test against South Africa following a lean trot with the bat.

The 25-year-old had been named to take on the Tigers this week, but he withdrew on the eve of the match.

WA will also be without spinner Ashton Agar, who has a minor calf injury.

The winless Tigers have been bolstered by the return of allrounder James Faulkner from a calf injury.

Tigers captain George Bailey won the toss and elected to bowl.

Warriors skipper Adam Voges will be aiming to save his Test career with a big knock.

Voges’ spot in Australia’s Test side hangs in the balance after he faied to fire in the opening two Tests against South Africa.

Should Voges struggle against the Tigers, he is unlikely to be picked for the day-night Test against South Africa in Adelaide, starting on November 24.
