The North Queensland Cowboys look to notch a rare win, when they welcome the St George Illawarra Dragons to Townsville. Join The Roar for live scores from 6:30pm (AEST)

The Cowboys have put together a nine-match losing streak. Victory here would serve the dual-purpose of giving Josh Hannay his first win as coach, and avoiding the worst run of losses in club history.

Despite managing to score first against Cronulla, North Queensland fell to yet another convincing defeat. They will have to do without the services of Michael Morgan and talismanic forward Jason Taumalolo again here.

The Dragons followed a huge win against Parramatta in round 14 up with two very poor performances. First, they won unconvincingly against the hapless Broncos, which set the scene for a lackluster defeat at home to the Titans last week.

The loss officially extinguished St George’s dimly flickering finals hopes. The manner of defeat will have left a particularly bitter taste in the mouth of Dragons fans, who watched their side concede two tries in the last five minutes to hand the game to the lowly Titans.

Both these teams will want to forget season 2020 as soon as possible once the regular season ends, which makes the outcome of this one very difficult to call.

The Cowboys play slightly better at home than they do away, and the prize of avoiding a double-digit losing streak may be just enough to get them over the line.
