Bob ‘Bozo’ Fulton is reportedly set to step away from his role as a selector for the NSW Blues, with the indication being that he will take up a full-time role as head of football for the Manly Sea Eagles.

He has been working with Manly – the club where he spent the bulk of illustrious playing and coaching career – as a part-time consultant.

Fulton will reportedly inform NSW coach Laurie Daley of his decision during a conversation today, in which they will finalise the selection of their team for Game 3, which is to be released on Monday.

Fulton has worked as a selector for the Blues since 1999, working with Daley and former coaches Craig Bellamy and Ricky Stuart.

He has come under fire during this State of Origin series – as the selector of a perennially losing team is always bound to do – and his decision to step away may signal the end of an era. Blues fans will be hoping it also means the beginning of new, much brighter one.

He is said to be undecided as to whether or not he will continue his role as a selector for the national team, with the 2017 Rugby Leauge World Cup on the horizon.

This will make the upcoming State of Origin match on July 13 his last as a selector, and it’s one he and the Blues will no doubt be hoping to win after dropping the first two matches of the series.

They have a number of important decisions to make before the team is announced tomorrow with that goal in mind – the most prominent being whether or not to name James Tedesco.

The Wests Tigers fullback appears a likely inclusion after proving his form and fitness in recent weeks, but was overlooked for Game 2 selection despite appearing ready to go.
