Arsenal can regain top spot on the EPL ladder tonight but must first defeat a Newcastle United outfit challenging for a Champions League spot. Join us for live scores and commentary from 12.30am AEDT.

The Gunners managed to end a three game winless streak by defeating West Ham 3-1 several days ago.

It was a win that keeps Arsenal well on track in the Premier League title race despite an indifferent form patch over the past few weeks.

Arsenal now travel to St James Park to take on a Newcastle outfit just three points shy of fourth position on the EPL ladder.

The Magpies have surprised many with their strong form this season and should push Arsenal at home in a high scoring contest.

Despite being at home however, Newcastle will have to defy some poor history against the gunners if they are to register victory.

Newcastle has not defeated Arsenal at St James Park since 2005 and have failed to register victory against the gunners in their last ten matches against the London club.

The magpies however are a team on the rise, and with the in-form Yohan Cabaye leading the way, Newcastle possess the firepower to beat Arsenal tonight.

Cabaye has been heavily involved in attack for Newcastle this season and has become the player that controls the tempo of their attack.

Given that he usually touches the ball more than any other Newcastle player, Arsenal will do their best to shut him out of the contest.

Arsenal meanwhile welcome back Jack Wilshere from a two match suspension but lose Aaron Ramsey through injury.

The man Newcastle must shut down though is Theo Walcott. The England international has scored four goals in his last three games and also scored a hat-trick against Newcastle in the corresponding match last season.

Overall, this fixture should be an open and high goal scoring affair, one that Newcastle can win if they manage to keep Walcott quiet.
