The GC17 is interfering with Trade Week

One of the big weeks of the AFL season, which has fans on the edge of their seats, happens after the Grand Final has been played and won. The AFL trade period kicked off this week very slowly with both representatives from the Lions and Adelaide commenting on how quiet the first couple of days have been.

With some solid talent crossing the trade-table, (names such as O’Keefe and Macintosh popping up, as well as Green and Prismall), one would expect plenty of talk from other clubs.

But there seems to be an unwillingness to commit from both sides of the trading table.

Many speculate that the recruiting staff of the respective teams are very wary of the draft concessions that the newly promised team, GC17, will receive in the very near future.

A lot of the clubs trading players off are asking for first round draft picks, whilst the teams looking to bring players on this week are wanting to keep draft picks up their sleeves in fear of not being able to scoop up talent in the draft in the future because of GC17 and the proposed Western Sydney team.
