Adelaide United will give goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic until kick-off to prove his fitness for Wednesday’s Asian Champions League (ACL) semi-final decider in Uzbekistan.

Galekovic is battling a groin strain and missed Adelaide’s weekend A-League game, but has arrived with his teammates in Tashkent for the match against Bunyodkor.

United carry a three-goal lead into the deciding semi-final, with Galekovic’s form a key rfactor in their progression in the lucrative tournament.

Galekovic didn’t train during Adelaide’s Singapore stopover before their onwards flights to Delhi, then Tashkent, where they arrived today at 1am local time.

“It has been a long flight, probably one of the longest so far,” coach Aurelio Vidmar said.

“The boys will have nice rest now before we train.”

Adelaide will train at the MHSK Stadium in Tashkent tomorrow ahead of Wednesday’s 2330 AEDT clash against the Uzbeks, who conceded the three goals in the semi-final’s first leg two weeks ago.

The Reds need a win on goal aggregate finish to progress to the ACL final against either of the Japanese clubs Gamba Osaka and Urawa Red Diamonds.
