Dragons and Crocs struggle for supremacy at Hisense

basketball

Saturday night saw a classic battle in the NBL as the Dragons hosted the Crocs at Hisense Arena in Melbourne. After their last defeat at home to Townsville South had some pride to regain but the Crocs seemed determined to repeat their early season success.

From the outset, it was apparent that this was not going to be a walk in the park for the Dragons and on the back of some great offensive work by Williams and Williamson the Crocs took an eight point lead to the first break.

The second term saw the Dragons turn the game around and reduce the gap to a solitary point, a desperate struggle resulting after the long break with neither team able to create a break.

Worthington was at his best with strong support from Ingles and Darden but were still unable to finish the visitors off.

With minutes remaining Williams made a tough basket and with only a point the difference the 3800 strong crowd erupted.

In the end the Dragons were able to hold on and regain their pride with a tough four point win.

Williams top scored with 27 points and 11 rebounds for the visitors while Worthington managed 22 and 10 for the hosts.
