The term “underdog” is often thrown around quite loosely, but it is the only way to describe Nick Kyrgios in his Wimbledon campaign thus far.

The 19-year-old Australian is not only the last unseeded player left in the men’s singles draw, but he entered the competition as a wildcard ranked well outside the top 100.

His scalps so far include world no. 7 Richard Gasquet, and most recently the world no. 1, Rafael Nadal. The former required a stunning fightback from two sets down, while the later Kyrgios achieved with relative (albeit incredible) ease in four sets.

Tonight Kyrgios faces up against the 8th seed Milos Raonic. The big-serving Canadian overcame Japanese 10th seed Kei Nishikori in four sets to earn his place in the quarter finals and looks in strong form entering this match.

Tonight’s game is sure to be won and lost on the baseline, as both men possess powerful serves. Kyrgios currently boasts the most aces for the tournament with 113, while Raonic sits 3rd with 108. Whichever man can apply the most pressure with their serve will be well placed for progression tonight.

Reaching the quarter finals at this years tournament is the best result that both of these players have seen at Wimbledon. For one, it will be as far as they progress.

The victor will book themselves a spot in the semi-final against the winner of the all-Swiss quarter final featuring 7-time Wimbledon champion Rodger Federer and Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka.

At the start of Wimbledon, bookies were pitching Kyrgios at odds well in excess of $500 – tonight he is a short-priced underdog in with a good chance at progression.

Can Kyrgios continue his dream run? Or will the big Canadian serve his way into the semis?
