Brisbane have axed three players on the eve of their NRL clash with the Warriors for a breach of team protocols.

England international Jack Reed, winger Daniel Vidot and utility Corey Oates have all been dropped to the Queensland Cup for going out on the town mid-week.

The players were told they would be dropped on Thursday and coach Anthony Griffin announced the punishment on Friday.

Lachlan Maranta and Jordan Kahu have been called up to start on the wings while Dale Copley moves into the centres against the Warriors.

Griffin denied the banished trio were involved in any misbehaviour and said they were remorseful for lowering team standards.

“The players in question were out during the week of a game which is not the way we expect them to prepare for a match,” he said.

“As a club, we have certain standards that we expect our players to adhere to.”

The Broncos will also be without Queensland State of Origin forward Matt Gillett who has failed to overcome injury.
