Five of the top ranked teams in college football remain unbeaten, while the other five only have one loss each. As the season wears on, a number of teams are putting themselves in a place to succeed.

We began the weekend in Stanford, with the Cardinal taking on the Washington State Huskies. While Connor Haliday attempted just under 70 passes, he was kept below 300 yards and intercepted once.

Kevin Hogan looked good, completing 23 of 35 for 284 yards and three touchdowns. Ty Montgomery keeps making the case for being one of college football’s top receivers, catching seven passes for 72 yards, averaging more than 10 yards a reception.

Florida State trampled Syracuse 38-20, Jameis Winston throwing for 317 yards and three touchdowns with 30 completions on 36 attempts. Dalvin Cook put up 122 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Mississippi State knocked off Auburn in Starkville, and are yet to lose a game. Dak Prescott continues to produce for the Bulldogs, passing for just shy of 250 yards and a touchdown, while picking up more than 120 yards and two touchdowns rushing.

Those Ole Miss Rebels continue to dominate too, winning 35-20 over the Texas A&M Aggies. In front of a record 110,000 fans at Kyle Field, a 75-yard pick-six and a 21-yard fumble touchdown return sealed Texas’ fate. Johnny, come back?

The Baylor-TCU game might have been one of the most determined efforts we’ve seen in a while. The fifth ranked Bears beat the ninth ranked Frogs on a field goal with four seconds remaining.

Baylor came back from 21 points down with 11 minutes to go to set up the game-winner. Bryce Petty led the way, throwing for 510 yards and six touchdowns for 28 completions on 55 attempts.

Shock Linwood had 29 carries for 178 yards, while Antwan Goodley, Corey Coleman and KD Cannon combined for 426 yards and five touchdown receptions between them.

It was a good old-fashioned shootout at Notre Dame, as the Fighting Irish defeated the Tar Heels 50-43. Everett Golson threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns to keep his team undefeated.

William Fuller was the potential Heisman candidate’s target all day, racking up 133 yards and two touchdowns. Tarean Folston put up a touchdown on the ground too.

Alabama survived a close scare against Arkansas, winning 14-13. Blake Sims put up two touchdowns for the Tide, while Brandon Allen threw for 246 yards for the struggling Razorbacks.

Michigan State remain unbeaten in Big 10 play, soundly winning against Purdue 45-31. The eighth ranked Spartans’ Connor Cook threw for 238 yards and three touchdowns in the win.

Arizona were handed their first loss of the season at the hands of USC in a close game that finished 28-26. Anu Solomon still looked great in the loss, completing 43 of 72 passes for 395 yards and a touchdown.

Oklahoma’s defence and special teams stepped it up in Dallas to win over the Longhorns 31-26. A 91-yard kickoff return touchdown, combined with a 43-yard pick six, enabled the Sooners to hold out against a disappointing Texas team.

It was the day of dual-threat quarterbacks when Oregon met UCLA in Pasadena. Royce Freeman put up 121 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, with Marcus Mariota racking up 75 yards and two touchdowns to get the 42-30 win for the Ducks.

For the home team, Paul Perkins managed 187 rushing yards, while Brett Hundley delivered 89 yards and a touchdown on the ground, in addition to his 216 yards in the air and a passing touchdown.

The Georgia Bulldogs shut out the Missouri Tigers 34-0, and that’s without Todd Gurley taking a snap. While the prodigal running back is suspended, Nick Chubb took his place, and managed 143 yards and a touchdown on 38 carries.

Oklahoma State hung on to win against Kansas 27-20, with Michael Cummings putting up 288 yards in a losing effort fort the Jayhawks. Desmond Roland added a touchdown on the ground for the Cowboys.
