The 2015 Australian Open Final marks the twenty-fourth meeting between Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray. Djokovic leads 15-8 after winning the last four dating back to last year’s Miami Open.

Both players will be fresh having dropped few sets en route to the final, although Murray had an extra day of rest up his sleeve. With showers and breezy conditions forecast there is a chance of a closed roof at Rod Laver Arena when play gets underway tonight.

Murray has been playing brilliantly this fortnight, suggesting the issues he faced following back surgery to sort out a disc problem in his lower back are well and truly behind him.

The appointment of Amélie Mauresmo has resulted in the Scot playing a more attack-minded game. His forehand and court coverage have been excellent thus far and he kept his composure well in a dominant straight sets win against Nick Kyrgios.

Apart from his fourth round match against Grigor Dimitrov, Murray won more than half of his second serve points which stands him in good stead as he can hold his own in the rallies.

Djokovic looked particularly vulnerable in his semi-final win over defending champion Stan Wawrinka, hitting 22 more unforced errors than winners. The Serb was also broken five times and while it’s unreasonable to expect a repeat performance, it does make the short price on offer for Djokovic look somewhat unappealing.

This is Murray’s best chance to beat Djokovic in some time and I’m siding with the Scot tonight in what should be an exciting final and with their last four hard court Grand Slam meetings seeing tie-breaks, it’s likely we’ll see another here.

Recommended Bets (Ladbrokes):
Murray to beat Djokovic @ 2.75
Tiebreak in the match – Yes @ 1.50
