World number one Novak Djokovic should easily move into the third round when he takes on Gilles Muller in their second round clash of the 2015 French Open on the Suzanne Lenglen Court.

Djokovic, coming into this year’s French Open is in absolutely super form. He has won all of his last 10 games and taken out tournaments in Rome and Monte Carlo in the last month and a half, both on clay. However looking further back down his season record he managed to win in Miami and at Indian Wells.

In fact his last loss came in February at the United Arab Emirates to Roger Federer. Since then he has beaten everyone that has stood in his way including the likes of Roger Federer twice, Andy Murray twice, David Ferrer, Thomas Berdych, Rafael Nadal and Nei Kishikori just to name a few. What is possibly even more frightening about Djokovic’s form is that he has Nadal, Federer and Ferrer in his last two tournaments, both on clay in straight sets.

Djokovic of course has already won the 2015 Australian Open.

Despite his awesome form on the clay, the French Open is the only grand slam that has eluded Djokovic. Will 2015 be his year?

Djokovic’s first round was a dominant display which was expected against world ranking number 86 Jarrko Nieminen. Apart from the second set where Nieminen won five games and pushed hard, Djokovic hardly raised a sweat in progressing to the second round.

Meanwhile, for Muller who is ranked 55 in the world it has been hard going so far in the 2015 season. He has lost a number of games against players ranked lower than him in the world and he realistically should be winning a number of these games.

Another factor to take into account is that he has only played four games on clay coming into the French Open. However, recent losses against lower ranked Pablo Carreno Busta and Steve Darcis early in tournaments are not helping his cause.

Muller has played in five French Open’s and has never made it out of the second round, getting knocked out in the first round on four of his five attempts at the grand slam. His best performance at a Grand Slam was making the Quarter Final in the 2008 US Open.

In his first round clash against Paolo Lorenzi who is much lower ranked than Muller at 86, went for five sets and Lorenzi had to come back from two sets down. He managed, but if he starts like that against Djokovic there will be no way back.

The pair have matched up once before, however a straight sets win to Djokovic was the result at the Australian Open earlier in the year.

PREDICTION: Muller will make Djokovic work hard for the win, but Djokovic shouldn’t have to many problems in progressing to the third round of the 2015 French Open against an out of form Muller.
