The 2015 French Open quarter finals continue this evening when the third seed from the United Kingdom Andy Murray continues his push for a first French open title against Spanish seventh seed David Ferrer in what is shaping up as an awesome match.

Murray has never even played in a final at Roland Garros in his seven attempts at the event and it is far and away his worst grand slam. This year though after making the semi final in 2014, he seems to be on top of his game and playing good tennis.

In his opening four games of the French Open he has never been pushed to five sets, in saying that however it must be noted that unlike some others he has only played one seeded opponent. That match was in the third round against Australian Nick Kyrgios which he won in straight sets.

To beat Ferrer, Murray will be relying on a good serve to win all his service games and put the pressure on Ferrer that way.

Ferrer meanwhile has made a final at Roland Garros, but has never participated in a final of any of the other grand slams. Last year he was knocked out in the quarter finals while the year before that he was the runner up losing to Rafael Nadal in straight sets.

Ferrer so far in his 2015 French open campaign has been pushed to the full five sets on one occasion, however has won his other three games in straight sets.

It was the third round where he looked set to falter taking on Simone Bolelli. After Ferrer took the first set he then found him self struggling down two sets to one after losing the third 7-5. From there though he dominated winning the final two sets and only dropping a single game.

His fourth round game however, was most impressive as he knocked out Marin Cilic in straight sets. Cilic never looked in the contest as Ferrer dominanted in every way.

Both players have been in fantastic form leading up to the French Open and have, so far continued that.

The pair have previously matched up on 16 occasions with Murray getting the better of Ferrer in nine of the games. Interestingly four of these matches have been on clay, but for every one of them Ferrer has beaten Murray. On two occasions it was in straight sets and the one time they have matched up at Roland Garros Ferrer won in four sets. That will be particularly worrying for Murray, that he has never beaten Ferrer on clay. However in saying that the four matches on clay occurred in 2006, 2010, 2010 and 2012.

The last time Ferrer and Murray played was in 2014 in Valencia. Murray won this encounter in straight sets.

PREDICTION: Tough game to call. The class of Murray could be enough but Ferrer has been playing some really good tennis, and taking into account their history on clay it pushes me that way. Upset on the cards here.

Ferrer in five sets.
