The battle of the Williams sisters resumes at Wimbledon 2015 when Serena Williams clashes with Venus Williams in the fourth of the championships round on Centre court. Join The Roar for live scores of this match from 10pm (AEST).

Both Williams sisters hold very impressive grand slam records and the number really speak for themselves to highlight the quality of the two players.

Serena has had five victories at the championships in Wimbledon with an impressive overall number of 20 grand slam titles across the whole four. Venus, meanwhile, also has five Wimbledon Championships, however has only won seven grand slams and never triumphed in Australia or France.

So far in the 2015 Championships, Serena Williams has had three commanding victories, the first two in straight sets over lowly ranked players in Margarita Gasparyan and Timea Babos. Her third-round victory was a little bit harder fought in three sets over Heather Watson.

However she has been in good form and is having an incredibly successful year so far, having already won the French and Australian Open. She hasn’t lost a month in almost two months, before the French Open.

Venus Williams, meanwhile, has had three straight-sets victories which included dropping no games in the her first round match at Wimbledon against Maddison Brengle. She has continued to dominate since then in all her games and will now come up against much tougher opposition in the world number one. Her form in the lead up has also been good, not losing since the French Open.

The battle of the Williams sisters is now entering its 27th chapter, the pair having played 26 times previously. Serena Williams holds a slight edge in the head to head having won 15 of the games between them.

They have also clashed five times before at Wimbledon, four of them in the final, with the other in a semi final. Their finals against each other at Wimbledon came in 2002, 2003, 2008 and 2009.

Overall Serena has won 3 from four finals and 3 from five overall matches at Wimbledon, giving her a slight edge.

Their last match at Wimbledon was the 2009 final which was won by Serena 7-6, 6-2. Since then they have played each other on four occasions and Venus has only won one of those; their last meeting in Montreal last year. Interestingly they have not met on grass since that 2009 final at Wimbledon.

The number one-ranked Serena Williams does hold favouritism in the odds, however it should be a cracking encounter in the fourth round of Wimbledon.

Prediction:
Both Williams sisters are great players in their own right, however Serena carries better form and a great record on grass making it nearly impossible to tip anything but a win for her. In saying that it should go all the way and she will have to be on her game.

Serena Williams in three sets.
