Keys will be wanting to prepare herself on four grounds: physical, mental, technical and strategical. These points will prove the key (excuse the pun) to her performance as she hopes to face off against Serena Williams.

Keys must assure her forehand is strong and that she focuses on Radwanska’s shots as she will be looking to exploit her weaknesses.

In her past ten matches, Keys has a win-loss record of 6-4 and is seeded at 19, reflecting her ranking on the WTA Tour.

The American is coming off a win in the second round over Tereza Smitkova in straight sets 6-1, 6-2, her second win of the tournament after defeating Klara Koukalova in the first round 6-2, 6-4.

Radwanska’s win-loss record in her last ten matches also stands at 6-4 supported by victories in straight sets over Katerina Siniakova 6-2, 6-3 during the first round and Magda Linette 6-3, 6-2 in the second. She is both ranked and seeded at 15.

Radwanska firms as the favourite and rightfully so as she has managed to power through her opponents during the opening stages of the tournament.

Radwanska will be looking to target Keys’ weak forehand but will be faced with a strong mental game, shaping this match as one of the most important for the third round.

Keys and Radwanska have played each other four times, each match going the way of Radwanska. Their most recent matchup came during the quarter-finals of Wimbledon this year, when Keys lost in three sets 7-6, 3-6, 6-3.

Previous matchups included straight set wins to Radwanska 6-3, 6-2 (Beijing, 2013) and 6-1, 6-1 (Miami, 2012). Their only other meeting came at Wimbledon in 2013, where a three set thriller came in the Round of 32, Radwanska prevailing 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.

Prediction
The home advantage will prove huge to Keys as the young 20-year old local looks to set up a matchup with fellow American and first seed Serena Williams.
