Cricket Australia XI dominated again in Matador Cup

The Cricket Australia XI continued their horror introduction to state cricket with a comprehensive nine-wicket loss to the Victorian Bushrangers.

The youthful CA XI batting line-up were bundled out for a mere 79 following their disastrous outing of 59 against NSW on Monday.

The Bushrangers took just 11.1 overs to seal the victory when opener Aaron Finch hit a massive six to complete the victory. That hit took Finch to the game-high score of 45 off just 30 balls.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the CA XI just never got off the ground as they again crumbled against a vastly more experienced bowling attack.

Small cameos from young skipper Will Bosisto and some late hitting from James Bazley saw them reach scores of 21 and 20 respectively but it simply wasn’t enough to pull the team out of the trenches.

James Pattinson sent a strong message to the national selectors after wrenching through CA XI’s middle order with authoritative figures of four wickets from his 10 overs, going at just 1.8 an over.

There was really no contest for the Victorians as they cruised to victory for the loss of just Marcus Stoinis in the seventh over for 21, as Finch and Cameron White cantered home with a mammoth 233 balls to spare.
