We’re just hours away from the last Test match of one of the most remarkable series ever played by India and Australia.
When was the last time an India versus Australia Test match was one-sided?
In my previous article on The Roar titled ‘Hope and defiance: Cricket in 2020’, I had asked this question: will the Boxing Day Test witness 2020’s last act of defiance by a team or will India let the events of that Saturday morning in Adelaide get the better of them?
When I first heard the term ‘bio bubble’ the first thing that came to my mind was the ‘Bubble Boy’ episode of Seinfeld.
As a follow up to my earlier article titled “A look at the Indian team for the first Test at Adelaide”, let us look at the possible choices and strategies for the Australian team.
The Indian tour of Australia has been on balance, so far.
Congratulations to India for winning the T20I series 2-1 against Australia. The series was hard fought with India emerging the winner between the two equally matched teams.
Congratulations to Australia for winning the three ODI series 2-1 against India. Australia looked the far superior team with a deep batting and bowling line-up.
India and Australia will kick start this new edition of their always-sparkling cricket series on Nov 27th at Sydney.
The much awaited India versus Australia series is just round the corner.
If the 2000s was a decade when we Indians felt we had arrived as a nation on the world stage, the Indian Premier League was the latest show of that stature – and if there was a team that represented this modern India, it was the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
On 24 January 2018, India went in to play on a difficult pitch in Johannesburg.
If there is one word to describe the way New Zealand plays its cricket, it has to be clever.
The first real test for India’s World Test Championship leader tag has begun in Wellington.
The Kiwis’ 3-0 ODI whitewash of India was entirely unexpected after the Indians had routed New Zealand 5-0 in the preceding T20 series.
The month of January saw India play some great cricket in the limited-overs internationals against Australia and New Zealand. The comeback series win against the Aussies gave cricket fans a short but sweet three ODI series to remember. A big loss in Mumbai followed by two great games by India to win the series briefly […]
It is that time of the year when most of us take a look back at the time that went by and reminisce about the moments that made the year.
In less than a year, cricket teams from across the globe will land in Australia to play the World Cup T20.
Yeah, good choices..If Fawad and Rizwan had succeeded, may be..Still no comparison to India’s MCG win..A team to come back from 36 allout and put up a dominating performance over 4 days away from home, this has to be the defining act..
India at the MCG: 2020's last act of defiance on the cricketing field
Reports are saying so..mostly likely he will come in ahead of Saini
India at the MCG: 2020's last act of defiance on the cricketing field
Yes, they should..In fact, some of the replacements like Rohit, KL and Natarajan will make the team stronger for the next two tests.. Australia have to hope for Warner and Smith to fire.. Also, Gabba pitch to help them
India at the MCG: 2020's last act of defiance on the cricketing field
Thank you Paul..Yeah, I should have added the Women’s part as well..
Merry Christmas to you!!
Hope and defiance: Cricket in 2020
No Saha..if you see my XI, I have Ashwin in the team..Jaddu plays one position above Ashwin
Where to now for India after 36 all out?
Actually, Jadeja is averaging in high 40s in the last four years with the bat..He is much improved as a batter..
Where to now for India after 36 all out?
On form and pluck, Jadeja and Pant will improve the batting..Left handed will help distract the deadly Aussie duo bowlers a wee bit
Where to now for India after 36 all out?
Couple of them are forced, Kohli and Shami..Shaw should not have been there in the first place..the other two are a toss up
Where to now for India after 36 all out?
I agree..most matches pivot on a few critical events like you have mentioned..i was not in favour of having Shaw in the first test itself..He may have a 50 from the NZ series, he looked not in good shape in the warm ups..Saha is a tough call..Pant has to play..he is a better test player with wider gaps in the field than in LOI cricket where he tends to get caught or gets stuck unable to pierce the gaps..
Where to now for India after 36 all out?
MCG, ever since the drop in pitches came in, has been slower and lower in comparison to other decks..Scoring rate has also been slow as stroke making was not easy..I hope CA continues to test the Indian team with difficult pitches.. Whatever be the pitch, the Aussie bowling is top class..they will make life very tough
Where to now for India after 36 all out?
Hardik is in India..How much I would have loved to have him around!
Where to now for India after 36 all out?
Yeah, that is why I stopped short of letting Umesh go..
Where to now for India after 36 all out?
Mostly yes..4 nil is most likely outcome from here..
Where to now for India after 36 all out?
I was tempted to have both Siraj and Natarajan..the only reason I stopped was two debutants in the same game..Umesh didn’t bowl well in the second innings..he never seems to learn..
Where to now for India after 36 all out?
Shami being injured, 90 wasn’t enough..Shami and Bumrah together, there would have been some belief..Umesh just sprayed the ball
Where to now for India after 36 all out?
Win the toss and bat first..
A look at the Australian team for the first Test in Adelaide
Let them play..the odds are certainly in favour of the Aussies..Smith is key for India..if they can neutralize him, that is a big IF, then it will be a duel between the bowling units
A look at the Indian team for the first Test in Adelaide
Saha vs Pant is a very tough call
A look at the Indian team for the first Test in Adelaide
A fit Rohit and fully fit Hardik can help carry the WC like 6 batsmen, 5 bowlers for India. On pitches with some help, like the ones we saw in the WC 2019 or Manuka yesterday, India will do well. India’s problem since CT 2017 has been playing on roads like in Trent Bridge, Oval (during CT), Sydney etc. Five bowlers despite being how great they are have been taken for 70 each. So certainly for such wickets, India needs the No.8 to be Shardul Thakur in place of Saini
Australia vs India ODI series review
Thanks Mooty for the comments…The batting in isolation was fine..however considering the context of the first two chases, they never looked like there were winning the game at any stage. They were 120 for 4 or 5 in both the matches, chasing 370+
Australia vs India ODI series review
Thanks Paul for your comments..The top order batting was mad in the first game. They seemed quite unlike the cool chasing team. Rohit was certainly missed. Despite all that, the Indian team could have still gone closer had there been a couple of bowlers who could hold one end. When you have a long batting line up, one top order batsman can play the sheet anchor and stay till end. Here it was a job of scoring and holding for the top 6 or 7.
Australia vs India ODI series review
One of those run machines at the top, Rohit, will be missed..However, Rahul is in red hot form..
India vs Australia ODI series: Possible starting XI for India
Indian team has been living with a long batting tail for some time now..Most teams have decent 7 and 8 batting all rounders..The team depends on its top order to do the all of the scoring..
India vs Australia ODI series: Possible starting XI for India
England are visiting India in Feb.. Already, a few of the test regulars are going to miss that series due to the injuries picked up in this Aus series..
India's act of defiance saves the third Test - and the series
