Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s 12-year-old record has been broken.
Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has done the impossible and scored in his 11th straight game to set a new English Premier League record.
The 28-year-old opened the scoring against Manchester United but a Bastian Schweinsteiger equaliser in the 45th minute meant the game finished in a 1-1 draw.
Vardy’s story is remarkable – he was playing in the fifth tier of English football just four years ago and only managed to score four goals last year.
His Cinderella story will go down as one of the most unlikely and intriguing narratives of this year.
