Brisbane International champion Milos Raonic will look to continue his strong form when he faces experienced Spaniard Tommy Robredo in the Australian Open third round. Join The Roar for live scores from around 1pm (AEDT).

Blessed with a booming serve and a strong forehand, Raonic has the firepower to leave his mark at the Australian Open.

The Canadian is enjoying a fine start to season 2016, winning the Brisbane International by defeating Roger Federer in straight sets.

Such a victory suggests that he is a legitimate contender to perhaps make the semi-finals of the Australian Open. He already has a Wimbledon semi-final appearance under his belt, all while he continues to mature as a player.

Raonic though can ill-afford to look too far ahead today given that he faces an experienced campaigner who has achieved his fair share of success over the years.

At his best, Robredo is still capable of reaching the quarter-final stages of several grand slams, particularly the French Open where he has a good record.

The Spaniard, however, has had less success at Melbourne Park, making his sole quarterfinal appearance way back in 2007.

Of further concern today surrounds his negative head-to-head record against Raonic. The Canadian owns a perfect 5-nil winning record over Robredo, which includes very one-sided victories on hard courts.

While Robredo moves well around the court, such movement will not be enough to mitigate Raonic’s powerful serve and forehand.

If Raonic is able to continue his rich vein of form thus far in 2016, he will yet again be too strong for Robredo.

Raonic in straight sets.
