There has been a lot of talk about teams underperforming and others playing great football, but who teams have played needs to be taken into account.

So who has had the hardest draw so far?

With five games against teams in the top eight in the first six rounds, and with three of those teams in the top three, the young and developing Lions have held their own so far.

The Hawks have had five games against top-eight teams for three wins – but never underestimate Hawthorn.

Fremantle have had four games against top-eight teams and one against a top-three team, in North. At this point they have not been able to win any, and it is going to be hard for them to win for the next few weeks.

At the top of the ‘easy’ list is Essendon, with only one game against a top-eight team, the rest against teams in the bottom half of the ladder. For a team made up of leftovers, they are doing okay not to get beaten by 100 each week.

North Melbourne and Geelong have both only had two games against top-eight teams. So can we really class them as premiership contenders yet?

Others that have only played two of the top eight are the Tigers, Pies, Eagles, Dogs, Dees and Blues, but they have had to play at least one of the top three, making their draw that little bit harder than North and the Cats.
