Novak Djokovic‘s quest for a maiden French Open title begins against tough competitor Yen Hsun-Lu. Join The Roar for live scores from 10:30pm (AEST).

Djokovic appears unstoppable at the moment. The Serb continues to break records left, right and centre and has certainly thrown his hat in the ring when it comes to discussing who the greatest player of all time is.

Unlike Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal however, Djokovic is yet to win the career grand slam.

Despite his supreme dominance in recent seasons, the world No.1 has struggled to secure a French Open title, with last year’s four-set loss to Stanislas Wawrinka a surprise result.

With Nadal slowly but surely finding his best form on clay, Djokovic has to target the 2016 French Open as the tournament where he solidifies his greatness with a tournament victory.

With a potential semi-final against Nadal looming, Djokovic will try his best to conserve energy and play only as well as he needs to against Lu.

The Serbian tends to play his worst tennis in the opening week of grand slams. He is prone to dropping his own serve, and it wouldn’t surprise to see him produce some sluggish play against a good competitor like Lu.

Lu’s greatest quality is his refusal to give up. The Chinese Taipei star rarely beats himself and will always make his opponent work for victory. On his day, Lu’s competitive nature secured him a quarter-final spot at the Wimbledon championships in 2010 – a terrific effort.

The opponent he faces today however just so happens to be the greatest player in the game. With this in mind, Lu literally is no chance of causing the upset. Djokovic has him covered in every facet of the game and the Serb should secure the win in straight sets.

Djokovic in three sets.
