After securing a spot in the Wimbledon main draw for the first time in his career, Aussie John Millman should make the most of an opening round match-up against Albert Montanes. Join The Roar for live scores from 8:30pm (AEST).

Millman’s career is one that all Australians can appreciate.

The Brisbane native doesn’t possess the raw talent of compatriots Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic, but he more than makes up for it with hard work and dedication to his craft.

Although injuries have consistently halted Millman’s growth on the ATP tour, the Australian is now beginning to reap the rewards for his persistent effort grinding away in Challenger level tournaments.

A third-round showing at this year’s Australian Open is proof that Millman possesses the game and tenacity required to test far more established players on the ATP tour.

Today, he faces another tough competitor in Montanes, who is more known for his exploits on clay rather than grass.

With that said, Montanes is a tough competitor, like most Spaniards, and will fancy his chances of beating a tough opponent like Millman.

While an arm-wrestle is expected, Millman will make his task against Montanes a lot easier if he finds his range with the backhand. It is a solid shot within his arsenal that can do damage.
