John Millman has continued to show his impressive development at Wimbledon, with the Australian having endured some tough matches so far.

Millman kicked off his campaign in the first round against Albert Montanes in a five set thriller 7-5, 4-6, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.

He then backed up in the second round with a convincing victory over Benoit Paire in four sets 7-6, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

The Brisbane local had a poor lead-in to the grass tournament with second round exits at Stuttgart and Nottingham as well as a shock defeat in the qualifying stages of Queen’s at the hands of Frances Tiafoe.

Millman must get a fast start against Andy Murray if he is to be a chance at causing one of the biggest upsets of the tournament so far.

His game plan will be simple. Break serve, push Murray to five sets and don’t give up. He’s got nothing to lose against the world’s second best player and he must play that way.

Andy Murray has been installed as the favourite to win at Wimbledon and claim his second title on home turf at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

It comes after the Scotsman took his fifth title at Queen’s with a win over Milos Raonic in the final 6-7, 6-4, 6-3 following victories over Marin Cilic and compatriot Kyle Edmund in the lead-up.

Murray is yet to drop a set with a 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 win over fellow Brit Liam Broady in the first round and a 6-3, 6-1, 6-1 victory against Taiwanese veteran and 2010 quarterfinalist Lu Yen-Hsun in the second.

He has now won nine of his last ten matches, his only loss coming during the final of Roland Garros at the hands of Novak Djokovic whom he also lost to in this year’s Australian Open final.

Millman has played him on just one occasion coming back in 2013 when Murray came away with a 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 win at Brisbane.

The winner will meet either Australian Nick Kyrgios or 22nd seed Feliciano Lopez in the first round.

Prediction
Andy Murray will come home strongly and book his place in the fourth round.
