Ricky Ponting is looking forward to finishing Australia’s one-day series with a couple of big scores after returning to form in the third games of the series against the West Indies.

Ponting ended a poor run in one-day cricket with a fluent 69 as his 191-run partnership with Shane Watson (126) sent Australia to a series-clinching victory by seven wickets in Grenada.

The Australian team arrived in St Kitts and Nevis today for the final two games of the series on Friday and Sunday, with Ponting promising no respite for the beaten Windies from both his side and the captain himself.

“With two games to go, hopefully I can make a couple of big scores in the last couple of games and go into our four or six-week break with a few runs under my belt,” said Ponting, who before his half-century had scored just 21 runs in his previous five ODI innings.

“As a team, I have been pretty impressed with the way we’ve played this series.

“I think the last two games have been our best two performances … now we’ve got two to go, and we’ve been here in the Caribbean before in this situation and lost the last couple of games, so we’ll be making sure we focus pretty hard on making sure we’re right for Friday’s game.”

Ponting foreshadowed some changes for the final two one-dayers with Stuart Clark and David Hussey, both yet to play this series, likely to be selected for game four.

Cameron White will also likely be more involved in the final two games with Ponting keen to groom the all-rounder as Australia’s one-day spinner following the retirement of Brad Hogg last summer.

“Three-nil up now with a couple of games to go, there will now be an opportunity to give some of those other guys a game that haven’t played too much in the series as well,” Ponting said.

The Windies too are expected to have a far different side for the final two matches, with several senior players likely to be rested have played with injuries through both the Test and one-day series.
